Thread created on 21:08:03 - 04/05/16 (10 years ago)|Last replied 04:07:19 - 15/10/25 (1 year ago)Ever been mugged by a dodgy trader? Or been mugged 5 seconds after all your points have been bought?
This short guide will ensure you never lose a large amount of money after being mugged
Index:
Option 1: Blood bag Technique
Option 2: Ghost trade
Option 3: Self hospitalization Technique
Option 4: Travel abroad
Option 5: Bookie bets
Option 1: Blood Bag technique
Step 1:
Before you put up items for sale buy a blood bag you are not compatible with. To see the blood bags you are not compatible with, see the link below
Step 2:
Then, use the blood bag. This should hospitalize you for 1 hour and should keep you safe from any muggings, just make sure you turn off your revive settings.
Comments:
This technique requires you to complete the biology education course or you could do the introduction module and then straight to intravenous therapy which would give you access to blood bags. Also you cannot use blood bags while you have full health
Option 2: Ghost trades
Step 1:
Before you put up items for sale or advertise in trade chat set up a trade with a trusted friend or a faction member (this is important because if someone cancels the trade you will be vulnerable to muggings).
Step 2:
As soon as you sell your item make sure you put your money in the trade, this should allow you to keep your money safe for up to 6 hours. Its best to keep another tab open so you can deposit your money as quick as possible.
Comments:
Make sure you deposit the money straight away and move quick or else this technique is ineffective. If it helps, self hosp before you sell then put your money in the trade before you med out of hosp.
Option 3: Self hospitalization
Attack and Lose
Step 1:
Attack and lose someone who is stronger than you, it can be anyone just make sure you mail them before to let them know
Step 2:
Turn off revive settings and make sure you send your money elsewhere before you come out of hosp.
Comments:
I wouldnt recommend this technique because it uses energy and make sure you check revive settings.
Option 4: Travel Abroad
Step 1:
After adding items to your bazaar or adding items to the market quickly travel abroad to any country (the further the distance the more suitable for you)
Comments:
Make sure you are online when you land at your destination and torn as there is a chance that you will be mugged ( I was mugged myself in Mexico when selling points). Also this technique only works if you are above lvl 15. Also buying shares is a good as well as the person following you will be disappointed when he lands and mugs you for $0 but its your choice. Just make sure your online to make the return flight straightaway
Option 5: Bookie bets
Step 1:
After receiving your cash, invest your cash into any match in bookies. You should have two tabs so it is instant and reduces the risk. The cash will be kept and can be withdrawn whenever you want except when the match is about to begin so dont forget to get your money back! I made this mistake and lost 600mil.

If you don't want to get mugged when you are offline or you can't stay on too long, then don't sell valuable stuff on the imarket/pmarket or close your bazaar.Last edited by Eldrazi_Emrakul on 23:20:27 - 04/05/16 (10 years ago)

Posted on 23:36:58 - 04/05/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkThese methods have been reiterated a lot of times in the forums. Anyway, I'll give you an R+ for effort.
You also need to mention that using the blood bag technique requires you to have less than full health first. So you have to use an empty blood bag to decrease life before you can take a wrong one. -

Posted on 18:39:35 - 05/05/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkNo they dont, all of those methods give you time to protect your money while selling, blood bag gives you an hour to sell and protect money and you dont even have to be online, losing gives you 15+ mins that you can be afk, the only one that requires constant attention is the ghost trades. You should try to read first before disliking a thread ya know.
@Atticus
Yeah while it is common knowledge, I found no threads about preventing losses from muggings except Nash's which explained the mechanics behind the systems mug protection but not methods to protect yourself from it.
Youll be surprised by the amount of newbies who dont know about this.
And Im working on editing this thanks ;)Last edited by Deadly on 18:40:29 - 05/05/16 (10 years ago) -

Posted on 19:16:02 - 06/05/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkMug protection is good as well. Look at how much play money i have mugged. 99% of that is mug protecting 1 player.
ie i mug him for $50 million or whatever he sends me a 25 energy can and then i send him his play money back.
Then for hours mugs are $0 but after a number of hours the mug protection reduces.Forum signatures make my eyes hurt so i have turned them off.

Posted on 07:24:56 - 07/05/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkI like Option 4 as the mugger needs to travel to the country you are in so that he can attack you.
If you have a laptop and stock ticker, you can spend all your money on some stocks,
to disappoint him as you have already spent all your money.
XD
But if the person is already in that country, then good luck.

But if he travels to that country faster than you,
good luck. (via Airstrip/ Business Ticket/ WLT stock benefit)
Spending $ on stocks is the only way to prevent him from mugging you. -

Posted on 12:28:51 - 15/05/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkYou can potentially get mug protection by having a friend mug you. So you don't have to be around to pay attention for a few hours

Posted on 22:48:08 - 15/05/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkSo I am gonna be brutal and say it - you really oughta know about a subject before tryin to write a guide on it.
Also, really this guide tried to become 2 guides. I mean it is dealing with 2 related but separate issues and what makes it worse is that neither of those issues is dealt with particularly thoroughly.
So hope you don't mind me making the following sugestions that I think will improve your guide.
1. Be clear that the guide aims to explain how to prevent being mugged as well as ways to store cash that you need to access fairly quickly (i.e. not TC bank investment cash) if you don't have access to a Faction Bank or a Company Bank.
2. Maybe explain self-hosping is useful when Trading or when placing high value items or large numbers of points up for sale.
3. Self hosping - in addition to what you suggested the blood bag technique requires players to drawn their own blood first as this subtracts life which allows them to use the bad blood.
4. If they don't have intravenous education they can set up a little R&R bet in the casino until they lose.
5. Check out the options and look at how much hospital time they give.
6. Storing cash - other options besides ghost trades include Cayman Bank, Casino bookies, creating a Password protected race. Check em out and mention time limits.
7. There are prob a few more things I forgot but that's best i can suggest from memory. Lookin into the different aspects will prob turn up some more ideas you might feel are relevant too.
Once you get it completed it should be worth an R+ :D -

Posted on 15:55:47 - 16/05/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkI do know what Im talking about and it has not become 2 guides, it is a short guide (yes short but precise-no waffle) showing people different options to prevent people from getting mugged
1. The title was pretty clear and straightforward, its a guide about preventing mugs. I was looking to explain to them short term ways of keeping their cash away from muggers ultimately what they do after is their problem. My aim is to prevent muggers getting cash.
2. I have mentioned self hosping and have explained it in detail, read option 2 and option 4.
3. Blood bag technique was the first technique that was mentioned.
4. R&R tends to be risky because it can be seen by anyone therefore you are more likely to get mugged than before, better to stick with trades.
5. All options mention how long someone can be safe for as in no chance of being mugged.
6. Ghost trades have also been mentioned but a password protected race and bookies are good ideas. I actually use bookies usually to hide money xD going to add them now.
Thanks for the constructive criticism though nice to have fresh ideas, much better than a straight R-Last edited by Deadly on 16:05:30 - 16/05/16 (10 years ago) -

Posted on 08:43:00 - 19/05/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkSome people may not be able to afford a palace (minimum a palace if you want to buy a vault)

Posted on 10:36:29 - 19/05/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkYeah i completely get that. It was more a noob question really! XD
-

Posted on 12:37:07 - 19/05/16 (10 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkand yes, you need more than just 65m (palace)
in addition to the small vault (extra 20m).
so a player requires 85m in total.
That small vault can hold up to 100m of money. -
