Hey all, so far I love messing with different set ups for my rig, and I’d like to see the current set up everyone wants to work with.

this is my CS 100 rig

Ive never over heated the middle rig, so haven't rushed to optimize it.
Reshula [2644462] has done a lot of research about cracking rigs, if you have questions i would take a look at her guides over going through this thread, though I like looking at the old rigs.

Still looking for a budget rig tbqh. Not everyone's got the cash to spare on a dozen water blocks.

EDIT: Oh yeah forgot, here's my rig, also zero-heat

I'd say "mine" but I practically made it alongside Lazerpent.

Wouldn't HPCPUs with Waterblocks make the most sense or is that not available yet?

If you get zero heat then you are doing it wrong..

like if your drug or alc booster isn’t above zero you are wasting something

Exactly. At some point you hit 0 nerve, having 0% heat with 0 nerve isn't doing anyone any good.

    My prediction

2025 edit since people are reading this a year later, this is the ideal final cracking rig for persistent cracking:

    MD7usBu.png

    Later 2025 Edit

Full rig options here. Including 0 heat, low heat (lots of clicks to full hear), and 1 click cooldown for 1/2/3 rigs as well as with/without overclock.

The Dance one above is better for low heat no education than the one in the link though.

    For reference that's this one:

You are right, but overheating didn't seem to affect results too much in my attempts today.
Would be more realistic if you actually lost components through overheating.or whole rigs

Overheating results are post-burn performance. You also could remove an entire PSU from there and it'd still run just leaving those 2 slots blank, you gotta cut back.

If that actually worked, the right move for max $ per nerve would be 4 PSUs 0 cooling and all high end CPUs and 1 fry per click.

Basically there are 2 ideals, one is probably about where Dance is, which is leveling up and utilizing burn at a reasonable rate to burn through nerve.

The other is bring yourself as close to 99% as possible with 0 fried per click to maximize $ per nerve. Wouldn't even try 1 click on the build you got there, especially with a whole extra PSU. As long as you're at 100% or lower, you're good. If you go over I think you lose about 2% performance per amount over (guesstimation) basically you do NOT want to go over, but as long as you are exactly at 100% power usage you don't need more. So the top two got it right in regards to utilizing 100% of their 2 PSUs, their builds just aren't where they need to be though.

    ----

Power in Torn appears to follow the laws of physics same as RL. Power=heat, those big CPUs generate big heat and it's not even close to even scaling with MIPS which is why Dance's build works. She's utilizing highly efficient power to generate lower heat.

    ----

There are still some question marks I'm curious about, a lot around how cooling works, but with the basics above you have a good platform to begin experimenting. So far with cooling you got dissipation out of the sides, and water blocks absorb heat but there are a lot more questions that need answering.

This blind old field mouse has had 2 critical fails on it so im still on skill 23

Im looking forward to tinkering with it tomorrow hopefully. Looks like a interesting feature to the new crime!

Forum signatures make my eyes hurt so i have turned them off.

(the above power supply 1500w/1500w is risky)

Yes and no. I think that should work but your goal should be to beat the one Dance posted as hers is sustainable with a full nerve bar and doing all the crimes while having more MIPS.

I think for a single PSU she's pretty much nailed it. Next goal would be to find the best for 2 PSUs, so the 2 PSU is good, but your 1st goal needs to be beating 580,000 MIPS. Anything less than that isn't progressing player builds.

    Basically
    1. Keep the goal of 2 PSUS
    2. Have a minimum of 580,000 MIPS with the goal of still well sustainable, or maximum output without hitting 100% heat on any components in 1 click.

Because fans work at 3 distance, maybe try a fan in the middle to lower heat and help dissipate water blocks (theory), and more power outside with the key goal of you HAVE to break 580k MIPs. Again, keep in mind lower power CPUs have higher efficiency and less heat, so may be looking at removing at least a high CPU (MUST) and adding more mid/low CPUs with less overall cooling.

Anything with less than 585k MIPS is now a "back to the drawing board" moment.

    Dear Beerstein,

Thanks for your guidance. How about this? 585,000 MIPS, 2 PSU, fan in the middle. Rig power 1495/1500.
