    The following Books will increase your Battle Stats, either directly when training using a +% modifier, by giving/allowing extra E for training, or by giving a set stat gain on completion.

    Honestly, this Guide is kinda pointless because you can't ever choose which Book you're going to get, and you may not get any of these for years. But at least it may help some people decide if/when to use them, or whether to use them alongside the Memories and Mammaries Book that repeats the previous Books' effects.

    Notes:

    [*1] Max additional Energy you can get daily from this Book is 500, using 4x FHCs and your points refill every day. But also, since it takes over 8 hours to refill a bar from 0 to 250 naturally, you shouldn't lose ANY energy to sleep or travel during this month. Usually you'd factor in about 3h worth of energy lost during sleep every night, so:
    - avg daily E without Book: 630 natural + 750 from Xanax + 150 from refill = 1,530
    - max daily E without Book: 630 natural + 750 from Xanax + 150 from refill + 600 from FHCs = 2,130
    - max daily E with Book: 720 natural + 750 from Xanax + 250 from refill + 1000 from FHCs = 2,720
    - 2,720 / 2,130 = 1.277 => 28% gains if you're already max training
    - 2,720 / 1,530 = 1.778 => 78% gains if you can afford to go from average to max training for a whole month

    [*2] Similar calcs to above. Also note that both these books provide the same amount of potential extra energy, either by halving the cooldown or doubling the effect. Self Control Is For Losers is hideously expensive to take full advantage of by drinking 32x 30E Cans per day, even worse than 4x FHCs. Fuelling Your Way To Failure is much preferred, but again you can't choose your Books.
    - avg daily E without Book: 630 natural + 750 from Xanax + 150 from refill = 1,530
    - max daily E without Book: 630 natural + 750 from Xanax + 150 from refill + 600 from FHCs = 2,130
    - max daily E with Book: 630 natural + 750 from Xanax + 150 from refill + 960 from Cans = 2,490
    - 2,490 / 2,130 = 1.169 => 17% gains if you're already max training
    - 2,490 / 1,530 = 1.627 => 62% gains if you can afford to go from average to Can training for a whole month

    [*3] If you have over 200m in the stat in question, then these books will still provide a capped 10m and so less than 5% gain. Just use it right away if you're over. If you have under 200m in the stat, you should probably wait until you're there to get the max out of it, or time it so that the Book ends right when you get to 200m.

    [*4] This Book only helps you while you're awake, since we assume you'll wake up with 150E regardless of how fast it regens. So for active regen of 16 hours per day, at 6E extra per hour = 96 extra E per day.
    - 96 / 1,530 = .063 => 6% gains if average training
    - 96 / 2,130 = .045 => 5% gains if max training

    [*5] This Book is hard to say exactly. Ideally, you'd get up to 99,999 Happy and then start reading. Going on what Sky says in that her guide there, gains in George's above cap are about 30k per train at max Happy, as opposed to about 25k at PI Happy. That's where I got the 20% number. But, druggies are bound to overdose at some point during this month, and getting back up to max Happy quickly is no easy feat. Perhaps it would be worth getting into a 7* Nightclub to reduce OD chance, hard to say as it could still happen. Regardless, non-druggies (gasp!) will like this Book quite a bit.

    ---

    Finally, for those not using boosters already, here's a cost v. benefit breakdown for Ugly Energy and the two Can Books. I used prices of FHCs at $15m and Tourine Cans at $2.5m for nice round numbers, though I hope they drop again soon!

    Book
    Cost of Boosters

    % Benefit
    Cost per % Benefit
    (lower is better)
    Ugly Energy

    Interesting thread, I have self control is for losers myself and was planning to save for all the cans needed, but didn't think about the restaurant special!

    R+

    (won't be for a while till I use it though, life's already expensive enough as it is these days)

    Yeah it'll just cost ya a cool $2.5bn! Nice Book though :)

    Also added an edit at the end about optimal Book usage.

    Isn't that edit best for a book like the happiness one? Surely with all the extra energy you already get with several of these a fitness would be better?

    Fitness is better for the extra Energy Books, but Farm would be better for the Books that give extra flat % gains. Will add some more math and recommendations.

    Added math and recommendations below, and edited OP.

    Okay, re: Jobs.

    For Books that provide additional daily Energy, via Boosters enhancements or faster regen, job choice should follow recommendations in the Company Comparison Table in Hank's Training Guide for Druggies. Either 10* FC or 10* Restaurant depending on if you're using FHCs or Cans for your Book.

    For Books that provide Flat gains, it doesn't matter.

    For Books that provide additional percentage gains, we need to look a little further. For Def or Dex, the corresponding Strip Club with +10% addl gains is the best way, hands down. But for the other two, it's still Fitness Center. See below for explanation:

    Hank's table shows that 10* FC is the best job to be in for Avg or Max training, but if we instead join a 10* Farm and stock points for the purpose of using 100 per day during the effects of our Book, that's +700E every day. No job can come close to that on a daily basis, but if we take into account the "lost" gains by not being in a 10* FC while stocking Farm points, maybe there's an argument.

    According to daily gain numbers in the above Table, the difference between training in a 10* FC and 10* Farm is:

    Avg training: 38,950 stats daily => 12,074,500 "lost" over 310 days.
    Max training: 84,610 stats daily => 26,229,100 "lost" over 310 days.

    So, lets look at one day of +30% gains using Farm points. 700 E trained in George's would give about 1,775,900 stats normally, and 30% of that is 532,770 in Book gains. So over 31 days we gain an additional 16,515,870 stats.

    For the +20% Book, it's an additional 11,010,580 gained from stocked points during the month.

    That surprised me a bit, I expected the +30% on stocked points to trump the FC, but it looks like the only time it's better to switch jobs and stock Farm points before using your Book is if you're average training and have one of the +30% to Str or Spd books. Regardless, just make sure to build up your other stats for the 310 days prior to whoring the other with your Book.

    You mention being surprised that the Fitness Center does so well against stocking Farm JPs, but consider that spending 310 days out of the FC is the same as losing 30% on a normal month's worth of E. That is, 3% for 310 days = 30% for 31 days (presuming 0% the other 280 days). I don't think that means the final stat gains would have been "the same," all other things being equal, but it shows why there's reason not to believe the Farm will outperform.

    Also, Hank's calculations presume you use your FC JP for strength. If you use them for education, that presumes education is even more valuable than the stat gains, also in favor of FC.

    For the cherries on top, you also lose out on the happiness loss reduction of the FC and even lose an extra three days of enhanced FC gains when you move back to your old job.

    But good job putting this all together, R+. I have one of the +30% books and am waiting until I can train only that one stat for an entire 31 days and still keep access to special gyms. For me, that will probably be worth nearly 60m of extra stats.

    Edit: Thinking about it further, I think you could describe it as if the time spent on the Farm literally erased the gains you got from the book on the E you normally trained with (310 days of normal E at +3% = 31 days of normal E at +30%), and so it is as if the +30% from the book only applies to the extra 21700 E, which as you say is an additional 16.5m total stats. Meanwhile, 3100 FC JP spent on strength is worth 31m extra stats, so technically it looks like you're losing out on 14.5m possible stats by choosing that particular Farm route with a +30% book.

    Additional edit: The difference would be narrowed if the stat you were training were in a specialty gym, but it still wouldn't come close.

    I would rather join a strip club for using defense or dex book.

    I remember doing a calculation in the past where in the additional 10% gains in a stat is almost equal to an extra energy refill per day.

    I used to get 762k defense per xanax in a strip club combined with Isoyama special gym. If I combine that with the defense book, it will be almost 990k defense per xanax.
    If you consider 1500 energy trained per day (no boosters) I get 4.5 mil def per day, with the book it will jump to 5.9 mil per day. At the end of the month, it will help me with about 45 mil extra defense gained.
    Positive side, you don't have to stack points like the farm so you are not losing out on any stats prior to using the book.

    I've currently been holding on to the Ignorance is bliss book and was thinking about using it to bring up one of my low stats under cap (starting from 1M). I was thinking of maybe doing this:

    Base happy= 5025
    5 edvds = 12500
    Total will be 17525
    Pop 1 ecstasy -> 35050
    Pop 2nd ecstasy -> 70100
    Pop 3rd ecstasy-> Maxed

    This will take about a day to do considering I don't OD and omg i have a lot lately :|

    Anyways I'm also trying to consider maybe joining a farm or going back to a fitness and the cost of cans for the month.

    But I think it's mostly deciding when to use it and wouldn't it be more effective for a stat under cap? Or with that much happy would it not matter?

    Gonna R+ , this definitely needs researching

    Yes thanks, you're right for the Def or Dex Books, I'll add that in.

    For the record ... assume 25k gained per 10E train in George's.

    In Strip Club, that's 27.5k. Add +30% and it's 35,750 per train. Roughly 5,362,500 daily for 1500E.
    In FC, it's 25.75k base.. Add +30% and it's 33,475 per train. Roughly 5,021,250 daily for 1500E.

    Add in the +100k Str per day in the FC and Strip is still better by ~250k stats per day. I did the math for Can/FHC training and it's even more in favor of the Strip Club.

    If you're going to do it that way, save yourself 2 DVDs and take the first Xtc on 12500 Happy ... it'll still take just three of them to get to max.

    Also, your main goal once you're there should be to use as much energy as possible without ODing, because that will make you start the Happy stacking process all over. I'd look into a Nightclub job for the -50% OD chance. Every OD during the month would cost you about 2 days to wait out the cooldown and get back to 99k.

    Actually also, the first time you do it I'd do some Gym testing at 25k, 50k, and 99k to see what your gains are, and whether you want to risk that 2nd or 3rd ecstasy the next time if you do OD.

    And yes, the high Happy would be VERY effective at raising your stats(s) under cap.

    That is a great idea (strip club), and I am going to steal it when I use my book!

    In my case, I expect to net roughly 14m stats over staying in a Fitness Center, presuming I had used those JP for strength. Almost 500k per day extra, not bad.

    Also rock a handy +25% passive and +10 nerve per day the whole month too. Not bad ;)

    You have finished reading Ignorance Is Bliss

    Money spent on training: something over 1b (sorry I'm bad at tracking things [:sick:] )

    Times OD'd: only once!

    Method of training: Primarily 30e cans with a couple 25 and 20e (thanks Christmas town!), 3 xan a day, 50 job points for e a day, and daily refill- Occasional FHC from stock payouts and when happy got ~99500k Also had 2 MCS payouts

    What do I suggest to use this book more efficiently? I'm not too OCD about how I train so I could've done better.... As HP suggested it is a good idea to join a nightclub I was just lucky to only OD once. I also didn't start the month with 99k happy from joining a sweet shop. I just stacked evds and xtc. and went with the flow. And I did have some wasted e on attacks for occasional bounties, missions, etc.

    Was it worth it? Hell yeah! Even got a merit!

    It was a nice book and I'm sure every new players dream to get. Even probably without spending as much money as I did I know a new player that got some crazy gains from it. That happy is no joke!
