Karma whoring- A Guide to VIP

    Karma Whoring- A Guide to VIP

    Karma is gained when someone clicks the thumbs up button on your post and lost when someone clicks thumbs down.
    There are several different ways to gain karma, some are more respectable than others, but the end result is the same. Some players goal is to reach 1000 Karma to find out exactly what perks you receive.

    Spoiler alert: the only perk is the VIP Forum (a forum where normal forum rules do not apply)

    1. You can answer questions for noobs in Q&A forums,
    2.discuss one of many topics in the General Discussion or Suggestions forum
    3.Create awesome GFX in Graphics forum
    4. create a nifty guide in Tutorials& Guides.
    These are considered by some of the elitist as respectable karma farming.

    However there is a faster way to gain karma.
    5. All you have to do is travel abroad and post the amount of plushies and flowers in the Travel Thread (http://www.torn.com/forums.php#!p=threads&f=10&t=15907728&b=0&a=0).
    This way of farming karma is somewhat controversial and won't gain you many friends in the VIP forums (yet). But hey, who wants to befriend a person like that anyway.
    The previous method was nerfed.

    There are still many other ways to gain karma also.
    5.a. Come up with a good suggestion or change to current gameplay nd post it in the Suggestions.
    6.People post witty GIFs /memes
    7.have snappy comebacks
    8.give thoughtful insight
    9. some players are also so popular that simply speaking their name in vain will gain you karma. (CAUTION: this method may lead to a forum ban)
    10. Hell in some cases simply agreeing with Bogie will get you a thumbs up back.
    11. Start a thread that generates conversation.(NitroDex)
    12. Simply agree/ give thumbs up to OP in some cases will gain positive karma (NitroDex)
    13. Start or participate in game in the Fun & Games forum.(Destroys)
    14. Be nice* (I personally haven't had much luck with this method. lol)
    15. Win a lotto in IRC and post the event on the IRC channels forum thread. (Destroys)


    If karma is your goal, there are many ways to achieve it. If I left any out please let me know and I will add them to the list. Good luck in your Karma whoring. See you in VIP!!!

    I don't know why posting in the travel thread is controversial. It gives useful info to other players. I find it to be useful when traveling, especially if travelrun hasn't been updated for some reason.

    And maybe you should also post the perks various Karma milestones give you. I am only aware of 1,000 Karma giving access to VIP forums, where probably people act all elitist. Any other perks we should know about?

    You also forgot to add that starting a good thread anywhere as well as agreeing with OP (especially in suggestions forum) can get you Karma efficiently (you did not specify)

    Unfortunately can't see this as a guide/tutorial (point #4 in your list) as it's sacarstically worded and couple points that personally I don't agree (especially traveling post).

    Well I'm not going to tell you what to write. You have to do some of the work yourself.

    Btw, I'm new and just noticed that you are missing something quite useful in the guide, what actually karma is and how do you get it (I'm guessing when someone clicks thumbs up on your post?).

    Do faction forums actually generate karma? It doesn't appear to generate karma when I up rate a faction members post.- Myth busted!

    How to get karma? It's not difficult.

    Depending on the circumstance:
    1) Be entertaining
    2) Be honest
    3) Be witty
    4) Be helpful

    But most of all, type as you would talk to them face to face.
