    Torn Shoplifting Monitor

I've been working on my shoplifting crimes lately, and I thought it would be useful to have an alert (visual and/or audible) when any of the shops have their security measures disabled.

Sometimes I'm busy on other tabs or playing Xbox in the background, and just wanted a little *beep* or a screen flash when the cameras went offline. I saw a few scripts for the jewelry shop specifically, but I wanted one that monitors all shops. The api is pretty awesome, so I made this..

    Features

    • All Shop Monitoring: Select individual shops you want to monitor.
    • Visual Alert: Adds a red border (custom width) around your screen when security is disabled (works on any torn page).
    • Audible Alert: Plays a beep in the background to get your attention (custom volume).
    • Sidebar Widget: A helper in your sidebar that flashes red when security is disabled at any monitored shop.
    • Discord Webhook Alerts: Send notifications directly to your Discord via webhook for any alerts you enable.

    How to use:
The script creates a new item in your sidebar. Just enter your Public API key in the settings and a custom scan interval. Hovering over the widget will show you which shops have disabled security (red). Clicking the icon gives you details and a direct link to the shoplifting page.

I've been testing it for a few days, and it seems to be working fine. Hopefully, it helps some of you get some nice things from the shops and grind the shoplifting crime a bit easier!

    TORN API DISCLOSURE & USAGE:

    • This script requires your Torn API key to retrieve authorized game data.
    • Your API key is stored locally in your browser only and is never transmitted, shared, or sent to any external server. All API requests are made directly from your browser to Torn's official API.
    • You may revoke your API key at any time via your Torn account settings.

Adding a few snips of the shoplifting helper...

    Sidebar Helper

    Helper injected into sidebar.
GREEN icon means nothing is disabled.

    Tooltip View

Hover tooltip for quick view of disabled security.
RED icon means security is disabled.

    Details Box

Clicking the icon will pop up a box with more details and a direct link to shoplift.

Very beautiful visually; kinda curious to see if will work, first one that is not a big bloat at the screen all the time to have it enabled.

Thank you! Please post back if anything doesn't seem to work.

The only issue I've noticed is if I have a bluetooth speaker connected, sometimes the audio doesn't trigger. I think that's an issue with my speaker going to sleep though, not with the script. =)

If I am using this on the Torn PDA app, will this only work if the app is open? Or will I get the notification if app is not in use?

Thanks for trying it! Initially, I didn't think it worked on PDA, but I see that it was hidden off the screen of my mobile. 🤣

Horizontal scroll on the energy/nerve/happy/chain bar wasn't active, so you couldn't even scroll to it.

For now.. I added horizontal scroll to that element, so you should be able to access it more easily, and consolidated the check boxes into two columns for easier access.

It definitely beeps while you have PDA open. I've heard it beep a few times while testing.

I don't have a way setup to push different API to test notifications. I'll try it out when I have some time and see how the notifications react with the app open/closed and screen off.

    Update 6.8 includes these changes.

This works great, already grabbed a few of those pesky shoplifting uniques. R+

Works well, just curious, would be possible to get alert only on specific scenarios? like for example only when both* are off at jewelry instead of 'any' off?

    Torn Shoplifting Monitor: v7.0

Thanks for the suggestion, Caio [2488372]!

I've released Version 7.0, which adds a layer of customization to how you get alerts for security measures.

Also, yes, I realize I'm an idiot and uploaded the snips with my API key in the GreasyFork images. 🤡
That key has since been deleted. 🙃

    What's New

    • Granular Security Selection: You can now select individual security measures (Cameras, Checkpoints, Guards) for each store independently. Only get alerted for the specific security measures you care about in the shops you're targeting.

That's strange, but likely a local browser issue. Do you have any extensions blocking cookies or not allowing local storage to cache?

The values are written to localStorage and should persist even after your browser closes.

Looks like if you select both of the check boxes in one location then it alerts you if either is off rather than both being off, any way of altering it to include a 'both off only' scenario? Or am I just not using it properly? laughing.svg

Oh. Duh. I wasn't even thinking about it that way. The script currently only checks for security measures that you have checked to be disabled, not both at the same time. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll add an any/all option to pick between monitoring any individual security measures and all at the same time.

nah i dont, i use other scripts that function the same way storage wise and have no issues. I just updated to your current version and it seemed to fix the issues. Thanks

    Torn Shoplifting Monitor: v7.2

Great suggestion, DiamondPro [2161442]! This was something I completely missed.

Version 7.2 just dropped, which adds a slide switch to select whether you want alerts for ANY item you have selected, or ALL items selected.

    What's New

    • ANY/ALL Slide Switch: You can now select whether you want alerts for any or all security measures you have selected.
    • Visualization Updates: Slightly updated the UI to improve visibility. Stores with no selections checked will gray out.

It does, but I'm not sure how useful it is on pda. It doesn't push notifications to your phone, so you have to be actively looking at a page on pda to get the alert.
