This guide has been designed for new players to learn about the different education perks and which routes to go down depending on your playstyle. I've created this solely for newer players who would like an understanding of what each course can offer and am in no way an expert on this, just simply giving my thoughts based off my own experiences and from talking to faction members and the Torn community.

    So, let's dive straight in...

First things first, let's take a look at the 3 things I would consider most important to look at gaining as early as possible

    1) Education Length Merits - Each point you allocate to your education length will reduce the time it takes to complete your courses by 2%. There is a total of 10 points (55 merits total) that can be allocated here meaning a total reduction of 20%.

    2) Education Perk - In order to get this, you must be promoted to Principal in the education job listing. You can start off by joining with just 500 intelligence, but I would highly recommend spending some time acquiring trains from another company director until you hit the desired work stats for a principal (1500 MAN, 5000 INT, 1500 END). Once you have achieved the rank of Principal, you will receive a further 10% reduction time to your courses. This is a passive perk, so once you've achieved it you can leave the job and keep the perk.

    3) WSU Stock Block - Whilst this one may be a little trickier early game to get due to its cost, it's one i'd still add to this list for the further 10% education reduction you can get. At the time of writing this guide this stock block costs around $92m. I will leave a guide to making money at the bottom of this post.

Having gained the above 3, you should be looking at a total reduction of 40%! This is a massive time-saver in the long run and can literally save you months/years when it comes to completing your ALL of the courses.

Now, depending on what type of Torn player you are will depend on which courses you should prioritise. However without a doubt I would highly recommend starting with the Introduction to Biochemistry course followed by the Intravenous Therapy course. These will give you access to the use of blood bags which during any attacking stage (warring, chaining, completing certain missions) can be fundamental. Its also worth noting some faction like to host blood bag competitions where you can win prizes for filling the most empty blood bags and there's also merits to be obtained from using them. If you're a merit hunter like myself, this is a no-brainer!

Following on from these, my next recommendation would be the entire category for Sports Science. These courses offer a total bonus (upon completion of the bachelors) of 4% to your gym gains which when paired with your factions steadfast bonuses can be huge! Some jobs also offer stat bonuses such as both strip clubs (10% Dex / 10% Def). If you like training and want to boost your training stats as fast as possible, this bachelors is a must.

If stats are your priority, it is worth looking at the Health & Fitness, Psychology and Self-Defence courses. These all offer passive battle stat bonuses which can be hugely advantageous when under the influence of Xanax, giving you the edge in wars. the Bachelor of Psychological Sciences will also award you with a 10% increase to crime exp & skill progression which can benefit you with crimes 2.0.

If training isn't your thing, maybe you want to run your own company in torn. From talking with the community, it is highly recommended (not essential) to get your Bachelor of Commerce. The courses in the business section will help take your company to new heights and beat off the competition. Now as I said, these are not essential, but will likely be in competition with those who have already obtained these courses and their companies will be producing better numbers than yours, making it harder for you to rank up and unlock more company specials. You can also look at the Tell Group PLC stock block - giving your company an advertising boost giving you an edge of your competition.

If you just simply want to run around Torn causing mayhem and attacking everything in sight (good luck to you) then you will want to consider the Combat Training courses. These courses will give you bonuses to specific weapon types and the Bachelor's degree will allow you to start gaining weapon experience, specialising in individual weapons for increased damage and accuracy.

    The below courses are ones I would not consider essential for a new player, as I personally believe the perks are not as beneficial as the ones mentioned above. However they still offer some great perks;

    - History - This will unlock the museum and also unlocks the opportunity to find the items in the city.
    - Mathematics - A few passive stat perks but mostly for reduced ammo usage (I wouldn't recommend for the ammo perks as ammo is relatively cheap to buy. With the new crimes 2.0, you can now shoplift from the gun store giving you access to special ammo also)
    - Law - This will increase your bonus to your busting skill and can also reduce the nerve it costs when breaking or busting out of jail. Basically if you're a fan of prison break and want to be your own Michael Schofield, then this is the course for you.
    - Computer science - This gives you the ability to unlock viruses. Again if you are a merit hunter then this is worth considering but not essential. With the release of crimes 2.0, you now have the ability to overclock on cracking crime which you’ll also need to learn.
    - General studies - This will give you a boost to your temps accuracy and damage. Great for throwing those HEGs or getting those smokes in when helping with a higher level target, but again, not deemed as a must as more as a 'as of when' kinda course. It's worth noting however that completing the Bachelor's will award you with higher work stat gains from the education courses, but with trains being regularly sold & available, this is not essential.

This is also my first guide, so any advice on future posts is much appreciated. Thanks!

The main reason for ammo conservation isn't due to cost, it's much more to do with squeezing every HP out of your chosen weapon before you run out of ammo and/or have to reload effectively costing you a damaging turn.

Ah I see! Thanks for clearing that up, didn’t think of it from that perspective. I suppose when using a weapon that consumes ammo it can be beneficial, but still not one I would consider an essential to learn, especially for newer players.

you don't have to reach exactly the required stats for principal idk the exact amount but it takes always 5 days to promote to next higher position and as you get to principal you get them
isn't a lot but can save some days

Agreed, definately not an essential and there are probably better edu courses to concentrate on as a newbie. (Depending on your chosen playstyle of course)

Great guide as always. I come back to it time and time again. Easier to get the overview of all the paths without me actually clicking in and around the education menu.

Bachelors in biz is 100% essential IF you have your own biz starting from 0-7 and you are the only person who has ever directed that particular biz. The ONLY time bachelors isn't needed is if you take over a company from a director who already had the bach and maxxed out the biz. You need the bach to max the biz for sure else you'll never get to 8/9/10 stars. Same with both biz stocks. Vital to get to 8 and up.
