Hello!
I'm collecting research data about crime outcomes from Crimes 2.0 users. Normally, this is done through an entirely manual exporting/sending process, and it's quite clunky.
Recently, my friends Hemicopter and Lazerpent developed a script that can automatically archive outcomes in a database to make data gathering significantly easier. There's no setup required nor any additional steps you have to take, just install the script and it'll automatically collect everything it needs.
GREASYFORK LINK
Summary of the script's features:
- It captures the last crime attempt, outcome information and skill level.
- It send this data to a database for analysis purposes.
- It doesn't access any other feature outside of the crimes system. This includes the API, chats, and anything else outside of the crimes page.- It doesn't track your identity in any way. It's fully anonymous!
Who has access to this data:
- Myself (of course)
- Hemicopter (mantains the script)
- Lazerpent (mantains the database)
This script will only ever track crime information for research purposes, no other data is gathered or sent anywhere.
Ideally install this script on every device where you play Torn! Works with Tampermonkey, Violentmonkey, and PDA!*Note: It's explicitly NOT compatible with Greasemonkey. Not sure why.

Posted on 07:12:59 - 19/03/24 (2 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkDoes it record the actual flavor text and all the stuff in the text box, or just the statistics off of the crime info at the top? If scenario one, does the script to hide crime outcomes interfere with it?

Edit: Just tested it, can confirm the scripts work just fine together!Last edited by Lazerpent on 12:38:11 - 19/03/24 (2 years ago)

Edit: Is it recording all crimes or do you just collect the data of the most recent released crimes?Last edited by Swob on 14:50:17 - 21/03/24 (2 years ago) -

Posted on 02:24:41 - 31/03/24 (2 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkIf you open dev tools you can look at the log statements. But its fairly safe to assume its working if its installed properly!
Here is an example of what the devtools console would say:
[OutcomeDB] Found crime attempt.
[OutcomeDB] url: /loader.php?sid=crimesData&step=attempt&typeID=11&crimeID=254...
[OutcomeDB] End of crime attempt.
[OutcomeDB] Found outcome.
[OutcomeDB] Preparing bundle.
[OutcomeDB] Found stat (Skill): '86.15'
[OutcomeDB] Found stat (Progression bonus): '40%'
[OutcomeDB] Ready to send bundle. {outcome: {…}, typeID: '11', crimeID: '254', skillBefore: '86.15', skillAfter: '86.18', …}
[OutcomeDB] Bundle successfully sent to API: {"status":"success"}
The way you know for sure it worked is if it says "status": "success" in the last line
