CT 2021 Labyrinth

I offered to test the barriers in the Torn Christmas Town map, specifically the Labyrinth. This took me a ridiculous number of hours to do.
I realized once the skeletons started roaming (they were stationary on the first day) that I'd need to draw a map to make sure I didn't miss anything. For those who haven't ventured in yet, the skeletons will send you back to a random starting location (there are ten different entrances to the labyrinth).
I finally finished (I only found three bad barriers total). The map was on nine separate sheets of legal size graph paper which, ironically, I had purchased eight months ago to possibly make a CT map...
I decided to tape all the pieces together as best I could...
I should mention here that actually walking through the maze is not terribly exciting. I'd place it above watching paint dry, but just barely. The different colors and designs are nice, and I bet some of those patterns will figure prominently in some contests later. But actually walking around is... meh.
But then I looked at the map and thought, wow.... this maze looks really great. It's not the maze itself that's boring, it's the incredibly poor navigation mechanics and slow walking speed. The maze itself is quite lovely.
I did say I wasn't going to post a map, and I'm not really. You can't traverse the maze by looking at this. I'm posting it so people can appreciate just how lovely it is. Because you can't really grasp that when you're walking through it -- again, blame the CT engine, not the map.
Note: the dark purple line that appears in places was to mark a section that was not passable. To get through that area, you have to walk around.
Here is the Labyrinth map in entirety. It's taped to my wall and is about a meter tall (three feet).
And here are five closeups:

And a small section at the bottom-center that I found sitting on the couch after photographing the other parts:

It took me probably 18-20 hours to trace the map. That skeleton is a little bitch, never wanted to bounty some pixels so badly. -

Posted on 07:01:30 - 17/12/21 (4 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkThere is a penguin there.
I guess It might be the first one you’ve ever seen.
Polar bears live in the Arctic but not in the Antarctic.
In fact, the word Arctic comes from the Greek word for ‘bear’ – arkoúda.
So in fact Antarctic basically means no bears,
and that’s where you’ll find penguins.
Also at the centre of the CT labyrinth.Last edited by EvilKakapo on 07:02:00 - 17/12/21 (4 years ago) -
