    So for 15+ years you use the same login creds on several sites? Dude..internet 1o1..what else beside torn did the "hacker" have fun with? And torn even got that feature..umm...2FA? Or did your mail get pwnd too?

    Important but doesn't always help. The worst 2FAs are the SMS MFA's. Been hacked before despite having MFA on. Now I use a different e-mail everywhere as well. (For example Apple provides different email for every site you are on redirecting the mails sent to your original email). Before that I used my own domains and my own e-mails.

    I'm a big proponent of using an authenticator, its incredibly easy to use and not reliant on phone signal or other connectivity issues. Email I don't tend to consider secure enough as if your email gets hacked too then you may as well not have it...
    could you link to a guide on setting one up/good ones or link to ine, I need to update stuff and its not an area I know much about

    Nothing wrong with the Google authenticator.
    I've had issues with Google occasionally so tend to avoid them if possible.

    same reasons I dislike the Facebook integration to everything, having had Facebook weaponised against me by someone after an Internet arguement itsa nightmare to resolve stuff when everything goes at once.

    I doubt most people will see this at this point but the below is what I've recently sent out to my faction. This is more aimed towards the recent Lastpass leak, but does apply to everybody to some degree -

    Hello all,
    LastPass which is a very commonly used credential manager have recently had their entire database leaked, if you use the service please read the mail below and follow the actions to the best of your ability, if you don't use LastPass then great but I've included a variety of best practices to protect your Torn account and any other accounts you may use online.
    LastPass Breach / Security Best-Practice
    If you are a LastPass user, you need to immediately take action to protect yourself from potential damage. Here are several recommendations, most of which also apply if you're just wanting to improve your account security:
    1. If you're using an 8- to 10-character master password for LastPass, you need to change it right now.
    2. Add Multi-Factor authentication to any accounts that allow it, this will remove the ability for hackers to gain access if they have your credentials.
    3. If you use LastPass, you're likely going to get phishing attacks directed at you so be prepared. These are emails designed to look like services you use and are one of the most common ways to gain further access to accounts and systems.
    4. If you have access to sensitive accounts or systems such as Online Banking, Bitcoin wallets etc you should change all of your passwords since malicious actors may attempt to brute force your master password.
    5. Never re-use the same password for multiple accounts/services. Hackers will attempt to use credentials on multiple services even if they're not recorded in LastPass or similar systems.

    Why follow the above?
    • If you're using LastPass they have had a massive data leak of all user credential vaults, this information contained plain text titles and URL's of every credential saved, meaning that hackers can and will target anybody with potentially valuable accounts such as Bitcoin wallets, online banking and the likes.
    • Due to the above, if you've ever stored an account for something potentially illegal such as Black markets or something potentially sensitive such as an Ashley Madison account you may be the target of black mail in the future, best practice is to ignore emails along these lines.

    Changing Credential Manager
    LastPass has shown poor security practices on several occasions over the past few years and their management of user data has been shown to be poor which is the last thing you want from such a critical service, as such I would strongly recommend changing providers, here's a short list of alternatives -
    • 1Password - My personal recommendation, very good browse, mobile and desktop apps.
    • Bitwarden - commonly used and secure service.

    My authentication app has so many entries.

    For the job its either private key login, or 2FA on every login.

    EDIT: And on top of all that, your IP needs to be whitelisted every x hours before you can even do the above :D

    I lost one of my emails a while back, I create a game mail for every site I play, and I have tens of emails for different sites and games.
    It turned out that an Indonesian later did it as the language there was theirs.

    it hurt when you do something for years and it gets stolen in a few minutes.
    I was sick and couldn't use my phone for days. When I could finally handle the phone, the phone was asking me for language preference and all the bull shit that comes along with using a new phone. My backup email address got several emails from google but I was......
    hard work of 5 years with lots of spending gone down the drain for me

    It's 2023 and people still:
    - don't use password manager (heck even google one does the job!! (bitwarden is good)
    - reuse passwords
    - very weak passwords
    - no 2FA when site supports it

    Bruv, do what I said and change passwords periodically.
