I must be the only one who loves them! This style has been honed in over the last year and a half, and they, without a doubt perfectly suit my vision of Torn - I'm so proud of them, and I'm so happy with what the team have achieved. I've personally carefully vetted every single item to ensure each one is high-quality in my eyes and fits with the Torn lore. I absolutely adore the plushies, they're funny and janky, exactly as I'd imagine them to be in Torn... They're plushies, they're not meant to be real animals. I'd only perhaps reduce their contrast slightly. I see people making fun of certain models as if they're not exactly how we intended them to look. It's true, some of them look a little low-res, but that's pretty easy to update over time. The most important thing for me was to achieve a solid consistent style across all items. Reading some of this feedback I'm honestly in shock, as if you guys must be looking at something totally different to what I've come to love in this time. What's more unbelievable is those actually asking to return to the old images, of which especially in the case of the plushies, are practically just blurry blobs. I hope over the next few weeks you get used to them, and can see them as I see them. I hope that my vision becomes your vision, because I honestly think they are, for the most part, wonderful. And those that aren't, can easily be improved or replaced.

This feature as a well thought out suggestion has 420 downvotes and less than 300 upvotes. By your standards set on players via suggestions forum, you shouldn't have even entertained the idea. Yet far less development intensive suggestions with 400 or 500 upvotes don't receive a direct reply and get snarky comments from you like, "... like I can spontaneously shit gold." I'm not against you building your vision of Torn by any means but this double standard is a slap in the face of players who take the time to provide thought out suggestions and rally attention to them. You've clearly spent a great deal of time on this update but can't be bothered to provide even a polite no to suggestions exceeding your expectations. Might as well just delete the suggestions forum.

That's ridiculous. Keeping the site up to date with higher resolution images as technology improves is an absolute necessity in order to stay relevant. The old item images were heavily outdated and looked very poor quality on all modern screens that have more than 100% scaling. Why on earth would we limit everything we do to what random people suggest and 0.5% of the community up-vote? The suggestions thread doesn't dictate what we work on, if we restricted ourselves to that, I'd have lost interest in Torn a very long time ago.

Cmon, we wouldn't want the head cheese to get bored by making the game better in ways the players want. The 0.5% comment was the best part like players hadn't already given up on the suggestions forum so getting that 0.5% is a ton of work, a miracle, or an organized effort by a specific group of players lol. Think we got 3 threads to that 0.5% on the AB+ blood type before I stopped paying for torn. May be shooting myself in the foot, but rather do that than pay with the way ched handles suggestions. Honestly, better to stop caring about seeing game improvements homie, you'll go nuts.

Well in a month, let's have a vote. If most people want to return to the low-quality blurry item images, we'll do that, abandon this project, and then never touch them again. The vote would need to display an unbiased side-by-side comparison of many of the old images vs the new ones from a mobile device.

Here is an example of yellow and orange being difficult to distinguish when scrolling. They both look like browns which are tinted with the corresponding yellow or orange. The donations already stopped some time ago from me. Ched isn't interested in making a great game for his community, he's interested in making his vision. Whivh is all fine but then why not remove the suggestions forum? Probably because a player suggested it.

Aside from the lack of personality in these designs, they are missing are mid-range values. Items are either all dark or very dark and very bright. without middle tones there can be no volume which is why we get this lifeless flat appearance. The argument about style is whether or not something is recognizable to the eye, and in the absence of light, middle, and dark value most objects are unrecognizable because this is how humans recognize objects. A white sheet of paper is a void just as the deepest shadow is the same. The values in the items are far too similar to jump from the screen into your vision. This is why they fade into the background making them so difficult to identify. Here is an example of what I mean. As you can see nearly all of the value range falls into the darks with nearly no midrange or lights. This essentially is a good recipe to make something that is very flat in appearance.
