How valuable is the RP forum to your Torn experience?  Obviously none of us arrived in Torn thinking of collaborative RP, did we?  I found the forums and was pretty excited to discover a ROLEPLAY section.  There have been some great threads I've participated in, and some, that were great, but fizzled out, for one reason or another.  If RP was not a part of the Torn experience, do you think you'd still be in Torn?  Just wondering.

I've been here for 17.34 years, and that definitely was not for the repetitive browser text game lol.

Hrm - I seem to have written a little autobiography for some reason... Feeling nostalgic I guess :)

I love the roleplay experience here! :D But I'm here for Torn itself, the factions and warring and the people I've met.

How I came to Torn: One day when I was fighting with insurance companies several years ago trying to get coverage for a drug I needed to live I just got so angry! I went into Google search and typed, 'Games where you get to stab people' and Torn came up immediately, hehe. I didn't actually find the roleplay forum at all for a year or two! (Oh, and I won the fight with the insurance companies - in full remission now :) )

I first started roleplaying in college when I was working at the computer labs back in the late 90's. 4hr shifts all year long in front of a low power PC with nothing else to do. So, I role played as a Lady Holder and as a Dragon rider in Harper's Tale, a MOO based on the Dragon Riders of Pern. It was a live roleplay environment :) It took me quite a long time to get to everyone else's writing skill there - they made it look so easy! And then I found Tapestries where I met my IRL hubby. Our 17 year anniversary is this month! :D

Many years passed and I didn't really have time to just sit and live roleplay all day, but I had the itch to write. So I did play by post in places like Elliquiy and rpol where there's sections and formatting rules and such. They had want ads and running RPs you could join after having an application accepted by the Storyteller.

The first RP I was in on Torn was Knights of Necromancy. It was really fun and I learned how RP works here. There's NO rules or applications or want ads or anything at all, lol - just people in a single forum section making the best of it! Kind of a wild west of RP environments. And that's cool in its own way :) 

Every once in a while someone will post a new How to RP guide, there's been a few but The Revived How-To Role Play is here and quite extensive. 

I tend to go through seasons of RP when I see something interesting or I have the time to devote to writing. Year on, year off, that kind of thing. I began my first RP thread a while back called The Place of Asking. Escape from the Tower was my second try. Third one is the Bathhouse on the Border with The Far Lands springing into existence almost by magic as a temporary spin off from Wood's Tavern :)

The RP experience here is very valuable to me! Made many friends and this is the only place I role play now. Elsewhere I'm a story and article writer :)
