What is a Ranked War?

From the wiki "Ranked wars are a "Tug of War" style fight, where each team attacks the members of their opponent to gain "score", with the ultimate goal of crossing a target net score first". However this means literally nothing to you if you've never been in one so let me break it down into the three main parts.

Matchmaking:

This is the first step of any RW. Every Tuesday at 12 tct every enlisted faction is put into a pool and matched with each other based off of three criteria (visible below). If you want to know if you are currently enlisted for a rw you can check the faction page and click the trophy icon. All factions that are enlisted see something like this. Do note you will not get an event when your faction is enlisted (as is proven by me enlisting and delisting us to make this guide) and will only get notified when we get paired.



At this point in the process there is nothing to do but wait for the count down to expire and find out who your match is. Do note it is possible to not get matched in a week if there is no one that fits the criteria and/or there is an odd number of participants. Lastly another thing to note is your preferred rw start time. Contrary to popular belief this has no effect on match making and is only taken into consideration after you are already matched. If the preference marches your opponents it gets picked, and if it differs the start time is random.

Preparation time:

Once 12 tct hits on Tuesday the screen above will change to something like this and you will also get an event unlike enlisting:




Now this is when the fun begins. From this point you get anywhere from 2-4 days of prep time to stack energy, compare stats, offer deals and just generally prepare to smash some skulls. At this point in time you need to start mobilizing and doing these things:

• Start stacking to 1000 energy around 35 hours out from the start of the war to have a not have a xan cooldown (the earlier you start the better as a overdose can change the tide of a war)
• Buy up some bad blood bags, small explosive devices, and general meds to help with turtling (more on this later) and pushes
• READ ALL NEWSISE AND CHECK THE DISCORD. I can not stress enough how important it is for you to do this. Good communication is what makes or breaks a war and I will not protect you when e's boot comes to your front door for not paying attention.

War Time!!!

During prep time you'll be able to see exactly how long you have until the start of the war, but for you forgetful folk you'll also get a notification like this:



but now that you've started what are you supposed to do?

The whole point of a ranked war is to gain a certain amount of respect off the opposing faction before they can get the same amount from you. But what makes it tug off war is the fact that rather than just trying to reach a goal the fastest your score if pulled back by any amount of respect that the opposing faction gets from you.

Since reading that back made me confused ill provide an example:

• War starts and the goal is to hit 5000 points (relatively standard for out size)
• I hit Opponent A in the opposing faction and gain 5 respect
• This moves our goal from gaining 5000 to 4995
• Opponent B hits me for 4 respect
• This moves the amount of respect we need from 4995 to 4999
  
  

The war basically follows this pattern, but with a lot more hits and a lot more people involved. You also get a graph showing you progress shown below. Any time your in the red it means that you need to gain more than the original amount of respect and any time your in the green it means less.



At this point there are a few things you should always:

• Making hits on the opposing faction if possible (not turtling)
• Keeping the chain alive
• Reading newsies
• NEVER GO OFFLINE OUTSIDE OF THE HOSPITAL/ABROAD. If you are going to go offline for a short period of time take a wrong bb/small explosive device. If you are going to sleep or will not be active fly aboard. I don't expect you to care about torn more than your real life (I literally disappeared for a week and missed a war cause camping is fun :) ) But please if you know you wont be able to re hosp yourself fly somewhere further >2hrs away
  
  

There are 2 (technically 3 but the last one is bullshit) ways for the war to end.

• Hit the goal before 24 hours are up ends the goal
• After 24hrs the goal posts start shrinking by a static amount every hour for I believe a maximum war length of 3 days.
• An edge case that I don't want to get into
  
  

Once one of these conditions is met you get your rewards!! As is expect the winner is given more than the loser and the caches are put into the factions armory. At this point it is leaderships job to sell off (or open) the caches and payout based on their chosen method

Importance of Chaining?

Chains are important as they provide a multiplier to all respect gained allowing you to more quickly and easily gain score. Here are three things to watch out with chains:

• KEEP THE CHAIN ALIVE. Wether it be an outside or a rw hit don't let it die as chain cooldown can prevent you from starting a good streak anywhere from a few minutes to hours
  
  
• DO NOT HIT BONUSES ON OUTSIDERS. If the chain is reaching a bonus and the next person wont be out of hosp for 15min dont bring it to the hit right before the bonus and force us to waste it. Bonuses to count in score calculating and are great for come backs
  
  
• SHUTDOWN OPPONENTS CHAIN. Main reasons for this is for the same reasons chains benefit us, bonuses and multipliers can be costly. This also goes hand in hand with pushes.

TLDR/Important Notes/Glossary:

Some words that you may have not heard before:

• RW = Ranked War
• Bleeders = People who go offline and stay in torn/out of hosp and start losing us a bunch of points. This is the one thing I will not tolerate. If you can’t make hits because of you’re schedule that’s fine, but if you can’t take 5 seconds to click fly to uae or sa don’t be here
• Mercs = A faction paid to keep the enemy's offliners/bleeders in hosp
• Turtling = Keeping yourself in the hospital
• Pushing = Coming out of the hospital together to change the tide of the war
• Newsie/Discord = Newsletter or discord ping
