Honestly it's such I will they won't they, that I won't fact check till the US gets a different president. I show the president because it's something will happen eventually and since Twitter is such a huge social media platform it's probably some sort of factor

My guess is he never planned on buying it, but is being forced to. When someone sells a large number of shares in a company for no reason, it triggers a bunch of red flags and can cause a complete crash of stock value. But if you have an excuse, then you can do it without triggering too much panic. Then if the deal just happens to fall through, we'll you've got 40 billion dollars that are now not tied up in being stock and can be spent freely.
