I hate winter warblers sometimes... Got an immature female Pine Warbler yesterday. Have you ever seen an immature female Pine Warbler? All bland gray, even the bill, but with wingbars, and not as rounded in the body shape as a normal Pine Warbler usually appears. Basically does not look like a Pine Warbler at all, and really doesn't look like anything else.

    So that was fun.

    How goes everyone's Birding??

The only warbler in these parts in winter are Yellow-Rumps, at least you have more that that xD

I found a kingfisher hanging around a nearby creek, I wonder of he's going to mate and nest here

How are the migrants doing for you now, Dom? Mine have all left, the summer birds are here now, even hatching chicks in nests already

Phoebes are back! RS Hawks are nesting, as are Wrens. Ducks are ironically more plentiful, as they're migrating up from you. No warblers except for Yellow-rumps for me. Eagerly awaiting the warblers!! Hoping they flock to the backyard woods, as I probably won't be hitting the park...

I went around in the kayak the other day, the herons and egrets are almost ready to fledge out of their nests on the island rookery. Bluebird chicks are poking out of the nests too, should be out within days. Then I see Common Ground Doves and Northern Mockingbirds are still on eggs, and that Fish Crows and Great Crested Flycatchers are only just starting to build their nests. Lots of spring action around here!

    I love hearing them.

I had my first 50+ species day last weekend. A friend of mine had 80 today!

We currently had a nestling Blue Jay fall out of it's nest and our neighbor thought it would be wise to bring it to us. We have had the bird for about a week now and it is branching. Flight feathers developing nicely and tail is finally growing out a bit. We take it to our master bathroom for exercising its wings and flying about 3 to 4 feet. Eats a lot and poops a lot. Tomorrow we will pick a larger room so it can really get some height and distance when attempting to fly. Hopefully soon it will be ready to be release to be with the other Blue Jays in

Are they Limpkins? I am in Florida, and mine are Limpkins...5am every day for a month in the spring, but then they calm down and it is only every so often the rest of the entire year. At least I get to see colts once in a while so it is worth it

Mine is either a finch or a sparrow. Honestly I can't tell. I'm in NH and we don't have limpkins around here. I had to google limpkins because i never heard of them. :)

We've had a pair of red tailed hawks swooping around making a lot of noise this past spring/summer. I think they were nesting in one of our tall pines out back. We had a lot of chipmunks earlier but the population has dwindled and i think i can say it's thanks to them.

There's been two blue jays that come to the bird bath every day around 5pm. I haven't seen any other bird love a bath more than them. :) I hope your fledgling jay made it, buzzard.

Lots more Grouse...wish I could go there!

I'm getting migrators now. Had Canada and Magnolia Warblers as well as BGGN at the park the other day, and a Blackburnian in my birdbath!

I'm also raring to go for hawkwatching season!

MAN---birding in Wisconsin has been fantastic!

I was born and raised here but was not a Birder until years after I moved away. I missed out on so many things! Now I am back and I have picked up "Lifers" that I must have seen and heard as a kid but did not know enough to identify: so far that list includes Gray-Cheeked Thrush, Dark-Eyed Junko, Philadelphia Vireo, Blackpoll Warbler, and Golden-Winged Warbler. Still trying to track down any remaining Rusty Blackbirds to no avail. I will be adding some of the better pics soon.

How goes migration season for everyone??? Hopefully as good for you!
