Korean a bit too boring for me unless for their bbq. I read somewhere that they measure deliciousness of food based on the nutritions tho n they are by far the most healthy food among asian food so I gotta give them that.
But too bad indonesian food don't get influenced by them so it's probably why I'm a bit unfamiliar with them

You mean the heavily westernized tourist meals that dont scare westrners, unlike say eating animal fetuses, spermsacks or fried scorpions?
Sure using rice instead of potatoes are cool with the steak hther whole of fried in slices. Add in a few exotic veggies that dont look too weird and add a sauce with a exotic name but is actually a slightly differently spiced version of grand aunt Madelines.

Lol in indonesia only 1 tribe eats cats among thousands. N yeah I ate torpedo before. It's just body part of animal. N intestine also body part. Idk why so weird to eat it. Half of asians are muslims. So some insects are no go here. I ate laron tho. Taste like peanuts.

I love the freshness and variety of Vietnamese food. The summer I spent living in Hanoi made me such a snob that none of the Vietnamese restaurants near where I live now can live up to my expectations

Viet food for sure. Has alot of cultural influences from the likes of China and France whilst retaining their own SE Asian flavours and freshness. Beef phó, Banh mi, Summer rolls with garlic chilli dip.

Sushi is my favourite. Although I like all the spices and how they are used in the various Asian countries. An iron skillet and a mortar/pestle is a must have in the kitchen if you are really going to explore spices.

Made a curried veggie with pork dish last night. Used the following to make the curry powder:

    Cumin Seeds
    Coriander Seeds
    Fennel Seeds
    Cloves
    Pomegranate Powder (Anardana)
    Mango Powder (Amchur)
    Alleppey Turmeric
    Tien Tsin whole chilis
    Japone whole chilis
    Garlic Powder
    Fresh ground Nutmeg
    Black and White Peppercorn
    Ginger Powder
    Lime Leaves
    Vietnamese Cinnamon

(please don't ask how much of each ingredient, I just toss this and that and guestimate, I go by gut feeling)

All tossed into a granite mortar and about 10 minutes suffering under the pestle.

I used 3 colors of Bell Peppers, Minced Garlic, Grated Ginger, Yellow Onions, Scallions, Cilantro Leaves, Carrots, Celery Stalks and Leaf, and Pork Chops...I fried the pork up first, removed to rest under cover, and then sautéed the onions, and so on. I added some Chicken Broth, mixed with Sesame Seed Oil, Basil, Soya Sauce, Cornstarch After a bit of simmering I cut up the pork chops into cubes and added.

This was served with oven roasted chicken legs and thighs(1 in picture) simply dusted with a mix of Pink Himalayan Sea Salt, Coarsely Ground Black Pepper, Hungarian Hot Paprika and Onion and Garlic Powders. As well some oven roasted cubed Russet Potatoes coated with Olive Oil, Italian Seasoning and Kosher Salt and fine Ground Black Peppercorns.

It was AWESOME! Just the right heat for almost any palate, with the bite from the peppercorns, and the sweetness and fruitiness from the other ingredients listed above. Chicken was crispy yet juicy, and potatoes almost creamy with the backdrop of spices.

To me cooking is a form of art, of self expression, following some basics of food science along the way.

Have you tried Kimchee? I have...no thanks. I love sauerkraut though. Kimchee just is beyond my range I can endure, and its a huge range.

I feel like some of you need a map of what Asia is...

I can enjoy some eastern Asian food, but it's generally too sticky and chewy for me. Fried rice or noodles is delicious, but that's a rather minuscule part of eastern Asia. Personally I prefer middle eastern over eastern Asia, and with all the kebab shops here in the west I believe that's the general consensus. Falafel in pita, doner kebab, vegetable/chicken pakora, Börek and so on... Still, the top on my list is Indian, mainly palak paneer (spinach and cheese), but it has to be spicy, as much as you can handle.

Mongolian and Korean food are the most underrated cuisines of all time. I feel like Korean bbq is something people see a lot but never try.
