The restaurant I will never forget was a bistro owned by indonesian first president son. They served a very tender steak with butter of the Gods on top (I then learned about the butter via youtube thank God for internet). The steak was tender (mind you this was before wagyu era) and creamy mushroom soup that was so good. My first visit was with my mom n she paid for it (I was little so idh myown money)
It was so good, so when I had my first job I went there to eat alone and spent my entire salary in one sitting lol. Very expensive bistro but totally worth it. Too bad they are no longer open.

When I was younger, a guy in my football team's dad was friends with the owner of a curry house chain here in the UK.

Sometimes we would go there and watch the football and we would have a curry and everyone was so welcoming and it was just the best.

The food and the vibes were 10/10.

Well anyway they sell the best BBQ fish in all over west java. They make their BBQ Fish with Padang style which is rare coz it's very complicated seasonings n technique. That's where I go when I want to spoil myself.

When I was a teenager, there was a locally owned pasta shop called Pasta La Casa. They made this dish with smoked salmon, capers and a cream sauce that was absolutely incredible. They closed down over 10 years ago sadly. To this day, I can still taste that dish.

There was a small tapas-style place owned by a distinguished chef in my city. We sat next to the sous chef who was dining with her mom that night. We all got to talking and throughout the meal, she would talk about the executive chef's conception of the dish, and also step by step of how it was prepared. Every dish was amazing and learning about the execution and thought-process made it such a memorable experience.
