Cooking it in a pot is really easy. Bring rice and water to a boil then cover and reduce heat to a low boil/simmer for 10 minutes. Turn the heat off and let it sit covered for 10 more minutes. It's basically following the rice cooker method but in the stove.

Don't lift the lid at all during the cooking process and you're good to go.
I'm torn between wanting to try this just to see if I can get it right this time and wanting to just let my rice cooker handle it.

While swimming through the forums, the controversial topic about cleaning chicken popped up…

which prompted me to have a discussion with my roommates about washing chicken.

It seems we are all on the same page - now it has come to my attention that some of my roommates

don’t clean the rice before cooking it … there are now new rules in place about cooking in the home. LOL.

I grew up using an electric rice cooker to make my rice, what do you use?

    Question though,

Do we need to rinse boil in bag rice?

Since when we boil it, we don't have to worry about it soaking up all the water before it's ready

Cooking rice is much easier than cooking noodle imo, you just need a rice cooker or steam cooker, rice/water 1:1 (add little more water for brown rice) in the pot, press on and wait, stir it after it's cooked and rest it for 10 mins, Voilà! Keep some in freezer for fried rice, Huiyoh~

For all of you that don't wash your rice. You are wrong. The storage of rice is indeed, a v dirty area. The process of dehusking and grinding it to become crystal white is also very dirty.

U need to soak rice. U will see what are the stuff that comes out of it. U will notice v tiny insects. U will also notice impurities that will float out on the surface of the water.

And Its okay to eat them becus u cooked it.
But if you have a choice to not eat them. Why not?

I was my feet, brush my teeth, or take a bath if necessary. Then I ordered cooked rice online and wait.

ok , but hear me out - IT'S OVER $4 BUCKS FOR A CUP ( all the asian restaurants around me charge that ) with the amount of rice i eat, i'd go broke haha! i assume you either a: got it like that (im tryna get like you) or b: you don't a lot of rice
I live in an Asian country where a plate of rice is less than half a dollar. With a dollar you can have a full stomach. (Rice only, exclude meat etc.)

Sometimes I rinse my rice before cooking, sometimes I don't... Never really noticed a difference in how it turns out, but all that dirty white water draining out of the sieve is certainly satisfying.

If we're talking about quinoa, I always rinse it before cooking at a minimum, soak and rinse best. While not as dirty as rice, quinoa turns out bitter if not rinsed before cooking.

Rice is stored with some boric acid added to keep the insects away and as a preservative. Also, generally rice is stored for a long time in plastic bags, And since the grains have sharp ends, they scrape the plastic from inner layers, it gets mixed with them over time. If you don't want micro-plastics in your blood and not accidentally get poisoned with boric acid, wash your rice.
