How do I fix sticky top cupcakes? Everything that keeps coming up is either preventative methods (which I should have found before but too late now, I didn't know this was a thing) or tells me to just cut the top of the cupcake off or frost them! Now one set I know will stay sticky because they're the super moist pineapple but I also made confetti chocolate. Search engine results say it happend because I put them away before they cooled too much. Felt cool to the touch to me, but then again I can't tell when the clothes in the dryer are dry or damn. Probably part of my nerve damage. Someone help. T_T

    P.S.
    I'm not frosting them.

i has questions, you said googled and was because you put them away before you let them cool enough, did you place a lid on said cupcakes ? how long before you put them away ? could also be you didnt mix the sugar enough or to much in the batch, did you measure correctly ? where is poptop when you need her, the cupcake queen.

20 mins after with a lid, I'm a go with that, hand mixed could play a part but if you always hand mix your cup cakes prob can dismiss that.

Are they damp on top before or after you put them in the refridgerator. Because it could be your fridge that is doing it. Also how sticky is the top? Can you frost them or is the top peeling off when you try to frost them? Sounds like they may be a bit too moist did you stick a needle or toothpick in them to see if it is coming out dry?

I didn't frost them. Yes the pineapple ones were a moist recipe but the chocolate weren't. Yes the toothpick came out dry.

If you don’t like frosting you could dip them in grated coconut.. specially when they are sticky.
Let them cool down is most important with cup cakes.
But i really think you might have to adjust your recipe when you add fruit to a cake mix. ?
