How is tomato sauce the problem?

I must admit, a nice slice of pineapple...doused in ketchup..ewwwww.

I'm not saying I like it or don't like it, I just want to point out that ham and pineapple are a classic combination. The problem with the so-called Hawaiian pizza is the tomato sauce.
Agreed. A Hawaiian pizza would be better if it came with barbecue as a standard base.

Step away from thinking about pizza for a moment.
Consider ham right out of the oven. It's frequently topped by pineapple or other fruit. So the problem isn't the combination of ham and pinapple.

Now think about ham and cheese and some sort of bready stuff. Ham and cheese sandwiches are fairly mundane lunch fare.

Now try to think of any standard dish that has a combination of ham and tomato sauce...
How about a dish that combines pineapple and tomato sauce?

The tomato sauce is why it doesn't work.

If we wanted a real debate, why didn't we ask about anchovies on pizza?
Because this is absolutely not okay ever ever ever.

Pineapple is ok when I'm feeling sacrilegious and want to take a piss at the pizza god. He/she/it never approves however.

    Meh, it's just okay.
    Nice to have ...sometimes.

The elephant in the room isn't its taste, it's the name.

One day, "Hawaiian Pizza" will be seen as racist hate speech and we'll have to rename it to Pacifically-minded pizza because of all the morons in the world.

If you love Hawaiian Pizza, I hope you enjoy it now before you are labeled a hater by association.

Cheers to you Hawaiian Pizza lovers!

A Hawaiian pizza comes topped with pineapple and ham, officially the most disgusting topping you can put on those cheesy tomatoey heaven-disks.
    Try Mockba pizza...

    PrincessJulie [11229]

Disgusting, I can't believe that anyone would put anything as repulsive, vile, divisive, as ham on a pizza.

    Kelsie [340367]

    ur wrong, it is deliciousness
    As always, Kelsie is right.
