Yep, after he clocked 212 mph it wasn't too long before restrictor plates were mandatory to slow everyone down. Racing wasn't horrible after that, at least until the COT era started and essentially every chassis was identical. Hard to find anyone more committed than Martin who ran a full schedule in both Winston and Busch series for almost his entire career. The man turned more laps than anyone I can remember. Elliott had a knack for being on the front row with super fast qualifying cars. Funny tho reading through that link b/c I hated the Bodine brothers. They were just good enough to cause wrecks.

Indeed, and the best I ever saw at side to side bumping you to scrub enough of your speed to get by you. He'd go door to door halfway down the straightaway when he knew he wasn't fast enough to clear you completely.
