I’m reading “This is going to hurt” by Adam Kay now, but I probably wouldn’t recommend it to anyone - while there are some funny jokes and overall criticism of NHS (UK), the narrative is kind of disappointing. I think you can find better material on someone’s blog 😞
regarding non-fiction books, I would suggest reading “In your defence” by Sarah Langford - I think it has quite a lot of interesting info about UK law system (for someone as unknowledgeable as me), while being quite entertaining. Though it may be me, I quite enjoy reading about crimes 😂
I really enjoyed This Is Going to Hurt. I agree there's not much of an overall narrative, but that's part of what it's about, I think: confusion, complete absorption in work, and a sense of in media res. I was thinking of getting the second one that's just come out.

As for me, I'm reading The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas, and it is SO long...

Recently finished West of the West, by Mark Arax and The Storm on Our Shores, by Mark Obmascik. Now reading King of California, by Mark Arax. I tend toward nonfiction, so I joined a book club that focuses on fiction. Next club selection is The Orphan Train, by Christina Baker Kline.

Currently reading A Little Hatred by Joe Abercrombie. Haven't found much time to get past the first couple of chapters but I'm a big fan of his previous books.
