    I opened Duke's safe, and it had the Gimp mask inside. I'm considering keeping it and failing the mission. What have others done? I know I can't sell it, but sending it is possible!

    I usually complete that mission because I don't really see the point in keeping a poem.
    For a mask, if you like it that much, then you're free to fail the mission.

    Failing a mission might make Duke angry for awhile, but it's your risk.

    I tried to keep the mask by failing the mission after getting it from the safe,
    but it automatically deleted when I went to the mission page even though
    I avoided clicking on that mission to update it.

    If Duke's going to repossess it anyway, then sending it back is the most beneficial action. But, others have one (there are about 20K in circulation), and so it might be fun. Mr_Mestopheles says it will evaporate, so giving it back is the most beneficial action.

    What happens if I give/send it to someone else first, and then fail the mission?

    The item is a non trade item outside of the mission. You will only be able to send it to Duke as per the mission.

    By not sending it, I failed the mission and Duke repossessed it anyway/ So, learn from my experience: send it to Duke, you can't keep it.
