Don't read too far into what Duke says, his style of talking has very little to do with what the mission requirements are most of the time. All that matters is what the mission requirement is, what he says does not. -

you just dont get the "exact" contract task before you accept it
alot of them you can deduce from the brief
and the mission text(brief) i believe is just flavour text, all you really need to check is the mission task, although the writing is fun, you should continue to read it -

As this topic shows (as well as others) the best deductions may not be enough to correctly ascertain what the mission is.
