I found another one, this one is from the job where Duke sends you to the Casino to see if the games are rigged. He concludes, " Oh and wear your red dress, that way if you bend over you get free drinks. Apparently."
So does this mean that when Duke wears his red dress and bends over he gets free drinks? Hmm.... perhaps there's a hidden side to Duke we have yet to explore....

I don't know, but I didn't notice any of the dress reference. Slight oversight on my part, or actually biased descriptions ? (I honestly don't remember.)

Whatever be the case with my above problem, it gets worse, much worse. Here's a mission where 4 people have to be hospitalized (Unwanted Attention)....notice the problems -

"So you are my solution. My gang-banging muscle. Put each one of those little father-stabbers in the hospital for me. Hit them with everything you've got. This is Dukes crib and he aint sharin. Oh, and tell them to wear a goddamn belt will you?"

^ That was soo wrong on way too many levels...

ok, I have to agree, the upskirts pale by comparison.

Note to staff: Does anyone edit the dialog before it goes to to the programmers? Or maybe your programmers are writing the dialog? cuz, that would explain a lot.

Time to test the Nerddar -- have the dialog writers answer the following questions:

    1) Describe Phil Fish

    • He is a m***er-f***ing a**hole!
    • He is a total c**k-s***ing piece of donkey s**t!
    • Who is Phil Fish?
    2) Describe Undertale
    • OMG! Squee!! It like this totally awe, indie game that (blah blah blah at least 15 minutes)
    • I want to have Toby Fox's baby
    • Isn't that a porn site?
    3) Please explain the meaning of the phrase "All your base are belong to us"
    • Well, back in 1989, this game called Zero Wing, or ã¼ãã¦ã£ã³ã° was released (blah blah blah) ...and in 1992 the Megadrive port was released in Europe including a new, English language intro, containing the unique translation, "All your base are belong to us". This went on to... (blah blah blah blah, at least 15 minutes)
    • It's a meme, an internet meme form a poorly translated Japanese game. It's been sooo overused, it's death to even think it, not to mention (blah blah blah ending with dismissal and disgust)
    • Shouldn't it be "All of your bases belong to us?"
ANSWERS: The correct answer for your dialog writers for each question is #3. If any of them provide answers 1 or 2, immediately banish them to solitary confinement in development. They should be allowed no further contact with humans except for fellow developers.

If all of your dialog writers fail the test, you may want Duke to post on the Trading Post looking for WRITERS instead of henchmen. Just a thought.

Rofl I think the mission dialogue writers are the stereotypical basement-dwelling forever alone guys; and used this opportunity to live their wildest fetish fantasy...Can't exactly blame them when this is the case.

I agree, I love their punctuation in dialogues.

I know they're giving Duke a tough, uneducated character with the "gritty" (/raunchy) speech, but that can still be narrated with proper punctuation... The grammar nazi within me dies during every mission.

No idea how it moved to grammar. I'm more interested in content. wasn't crazy about the "attack the spouse" mission and so declined it. but the missions following that did have more robust dialog, imho. It's a work in progress, and I think the writer(s) are getting there.

The amount of sexism from Duke is ridiculous. You're right, if he was making similar comments about races/religions/sexual orientation everyone would be complaining. Is the female physicist going to be calling people fa****s or darkies? No? Why not? Would you like me to recommend some feminist literature to you chedders?

I completely agree, Ched this sexism needs to stop this isn't the 19th century, these days we all believe in equality so if Duke is going to be commenting on women's arses I feel it's discrimination that as a man duke never tells me I could open a bakery with my buns. [:dizzy:]

haha, that is pretty funny. I have not noticed this, but maybe that's because I'm male. I will certainly keep an eye out for it now.

I wouldn't class it as over the top, just part of the character. I find it really tame compared to our faction chat where every second word is beeped out and racial slurs are a plenty :P

well, in a faction chat you can give as good as you get. not so with Duke. I think the reason the women get their panties in a bunch is because there's no retort. If we could accept with either "yes, boss" or "don't burn your hands on these buns, honey," (or better yet just put an open text box for accept, you can just delete the comments), people would feel like they're sharing the joy. Perhaps Duke likes 'em feisty.

It cracks me up that in a game where drugs, murder, and crime are such intricate parts of it right from the get go (among other things) people would end up finding anything else that occurs within it all that surprising and/or offensive.

Look, you don't understand the magic of Torn City.

Shooting a Senator in the head? That's alright.
Mugging an old lady for profit? Nothing personal.
Establish an extensive drug empire devoted entirely to a medication mostly used to treat panic disorders? Everybody's into that.

Now, a loan shark with misogynistic tendencies?

I... I have no words to describe my utter disgust.
I'm so good at this game, you guysI'm so good at this game, you guys.

See, Duke knows when not to take it too far :P

And then he winks, like this. You know what a submarine race is? I don't think I wanna know! It sounds like something a guy would do with his...you know, I'm just gonna stop right there.

Edit: After completing the contract -

Good job. Maybe he can go look for submarine races in some other part of town. Did we find out what that was yet? Actually don't tell me...I just ate lunch.

Unfortunately, it's a small sampling size, but the results aren't surprising:
