Happy 70th Birthday to the vinyl 33 1/3 LP

Thought I'd combine that with a guitarist no one has mentioned.

Frampton Comes Alive! was one of the first LPs I remember having. There were other 45s and 78s, but this, Some Girls and ELOs Out of the Blue were a few of my first albums.

Peter Frampton - Lines On My Face

It would be quite a few more years before I would understand how to cull out seeds in a quick, efficient way.

Dicky Betts out playing again, he needs to get some more playtime for sure. What little I saw posted wasn't A+

But here's some dirty bayou stink.

Recently toured FAME music studios in Muscle Shoals where Duane slept in the parking lot to be near the action. Greg recorded his last album there before he passed.

Dug this post up after hearing that Dicky Betts fell in his backyard yesterday, hit his head and had a serious hemorrhage. In critical condition.

I'm interested to know who everyone thinks is the absolute best guitar player.  Doesn't have to really be "the best," just someone you like the best, otherwise everyone would just say Eric Johnson.

I'll say Fred Mcdowell.  Although he was always against Rock and Roll, whether he likes it or not he helped influence rock and roll forever with songs like Good Morning Little Schoolgirl.

Jimmy Page, Jimmy Hendricks, steve vai , Eric Clapton,  Jeff beck , stevie ray vaughn.....

I've got Holiday blues already, being in/out of retail accounts every day. It's too early for xmas music!

I think about Michael Houser often (RiP) and he needs added to this thread.

Back problems and persistent numbness in his leg 'forced' him to sit down...he only got better when he did.

Proving once again you can play fast without being in a hurry.

    Panic - Driving Song>Surprise Valley>Driving Song

Spoiler: 18min long, and last few sec got cut somehow.

An honest tune with a lingering lead has taken me this far

    New Knopfler released in November.

Just found out, so haven't heard it yet. Will be checking Spotify later today.

Edit: Listened to first 6 tracks. Well done, but hoping the tempo picks up. Was perfect for the 6+ inches of rain we had today.

And apparently a bacon roll is actually a thing...yum

Hes slowed a lot in his age, almost pretentious the way he plays now but still just so awesomr that i cant not listen.

And yes, a bacon roll is the best thing on a morning after drinking!!

Look into Angel Vivaldi (AKA Shreddy Mercury), Jason Richardson, and Polyphia. You will not be displeased.

First saw them in 1986 when they still played the bar scene and you could get really close to them.

Extensive song list, plenty of covers.

Angel Vivaldi may be a very talented guitarist but I find him a bit boring compared with most other guitarists posted here, Jason Richardson too, while theres a lot of stuff going on in the music and decent melodies and stuff none of it is that captivating. Still decent music that I would enjoy on occasion.

I find that Polyphia manages to be a lot more interesting in their music, a lot going on but all working together rather than fighting. I actually recently started listening to them before competitions, helps get me pumped and in the zone. Henson and LePage are good guitarists but again I just feel that they are a long way off from the level of Gilbert, Friedman, Johnson etc

    OlafderGeiger [1998145]

Too many amazing guitarists to crown any one the best.
I personally enjoy Knopfler, David Gilmore, Clapton, also pretty amazed no one named Eddie Van Halen yet.
Come on, he's a ****ing magenious.

I also enjoy pieces written by Isaac Albéniz and Francisco Tárrega, but ofc I cannot judge upon their ability to play the guitar, as they lived over 100 years ago.

Im a year late on this particular post but oh well, I can't imagine Isaac Albeniz was a particularly good guitarist given he was in fact a pianist, maybe he played a wee bit of guitar though. Tarrega must have been amazing to have composed such pieces throughout his life and also to have run away from home so many times at a young age to try and begin a career of musical performance.
