I was always in the WoW camp. I did play the original GW which was really good but WoW just had so much more.

Btw, for anyone interested, a Cyberpunk anime show is dropping on Netflix tomorrow (09/13)! -

I bought it a couple months ago, ran a few “practice” matches with AI. Tried my first match yesterday and lasted 52 seconds LOL. I’m not good at 1st person shooters with keyboard and mouse, but still… that’s embarrassing lmao. Took me a longer time just to get into the match!

As I describe it, it's an FPS for masochists. This funny video is tarkov in a nutshell.
People play it for it's uniqueness as there's really no other shooter out there that's like EFT (at least that I've seen). Only recently have there been clones that are adopting it's game style (such as Cycle Frontier and Marauders), but even then they're not AS hardcore/realistic as EFT (which is a good thing as it can cater to a wider variety of players interested in the game style, but don't want the killer hardcore-ness).
And don't feel bad for not being good at it. There's honestly so many large learning curves since the game doesn't actually teach you anything from the start (ranging from the "basic" learning curve of "oh I don't automatically heal between deaths??" all the way up to "ok this is where I spawned...there's 3 other spawns here, here, and here that I need to be careful of").
Assuming it's your first wipe, it's going to be rough but not impossible. If you really wanna learn and get into the game, there are a lot of youtubers/streamers that play EFT and have very good video guides that teach you the game (countless guides from a simple "EFT Guide" google search), as well as show you their POV of how they play on a basic account (Pestily's "Raid" series). If not, then that's perfectly fine, as you can see that EFT isn't everyone's cup of tea.
If you want some tips from me, just ease yourself into the game by going into multiplayer lobbies with just a pistol, rig, and bag (for minimal loss upon death) and have your main goal be to get out alive (with maybe some exploring, looting, scav killing, etc). Everyone started here so don't be ashamed. On my first wipe I think I actually did this for about 14 or so levels lol. To this day, I still see people lv40+ doing these "naked pistol runs" and just assume they're either trying to learn the map, or are just flat-out broke ingame.
Learn the maps and extracts in offline mode, and/or explore them on a scav run (and FYI do not kill other scavs while on your scav run, it negatively affects your "scav karma"). Use a 2nd monitor or your phone to pull up a map of the map you're on (I just use the EFT wiki), so you can get a better feeling of where you are, where you need to go, and what your extract looks like.
Once you get into it, it's honestly a fun rollercoaster experience due to the pure stakes of losing everything at any given moment; the good raids feel like a huge accomplishment, but the bad raids feel like bleh.
sorry this ended up being a wall of text, I jsut really like the game lol -
