Mobile gaming is gaming but i see it as gaming lite. You dont really get the full experience.

I have been a serious gamer for nearly 40 years. I have tried mobile games but they dont do anything for me.

    Tarelli [1060371]

I use emulators to play old games...

    xirion [2618808]

What game Is that? I'd love to try it! And what emulator do you use?

    Tarelli [1060371]

Free ds for android for that one. That's ff4 remastered.

    Amrak_Dezark [2189876]

I knew it looked like FF but wasnt sure which one lol

    Tarelli [1060371]

Can be hard to tell with the early ones from a screenshot , especially in their original form.
Reminded me of ff7 but I knew it wasnt ff7

If it's a game it is gaming. Gaming doesn't mean the best of the best games it means any games trash or not.

I've always heard or been told mobile gaming isn't "real gaming." I play on handhelds, consoles, pc, and mobile...I don't feel mobile gaming is all that different from playing on a handheld. I get to play wherever I have a feasible connection, so what's the difference? Are we assuming ~mobile gaming~ is 3-match type game only and forgetting we can play MMOs and FPS on mobile or...? Curious to actually hear opinions.

Yes I would say it is gaming. Some mobile games even have full blown professional tournaments, such as CoC, Brawl stars, CR, and AoV. Mobile games, may not be as big in the west, but are massive in the east.

If mobile gaming is not gaming, then I would be curious to find out when you think gaming actually became gaming. There were plenty of games on Atari, Intellivision, ColecoVision, etc. that were much further from a typical gaming experience that most things on my phone are. If the phone games don't count, why should those ones count?
Ah the "Intellivision" what a games machine that was.....NOT......
However having said that some of my favourite early gaming memories were throwing the controller across the room and screamng due to the lag of my character verses my controllers actions.... CLASSIC.

Don't even ask me about the Vic 20..... Blue Meanies.....

Forgot to answer the question, mobile gaming, the answers in the name...

Play Albion online that is a pretty pc mobile game, but you are gonna run your battery life, and your phone might not play it.

Here's one for the gatekeepers and gamers of torn...

    Is mobile gaming really gaming?

With the recent rise in official events, and even tournaments of mobile games like Random Dice, Clash Royale/CoC, Cytus II, etc. I've questioned the impact of mobile games, and started to question if we can really call it, "gaming" wanted to know what torn thinks about it :p
    YES

Yes of course. Play COD on mobile then you will feel silly asking that question (no offense).

graphics wise, gaming on phone is equal to console or at least close to it.
    stories are excellent.
    acting is pretty good.
    tutorials (as always) are boring.
    long hours of grinding.
    so there's no real difference.

the only problem is that your phone will get HOT and iv went through two batteries on my S10. (also I think iv rubbed my thumbs fingerprints off haha)

Obviously it is. Like I get that it's not competitive whatsoever, but it's a game. Therefore while playing said game, you are in fact "gaming".

Maybe instead of calling it 'gaming' we should call it 'maiming' (mobile alternative interface ((ga))ming), LOL. :D Just a thought.

FYI, real definition of 'maiming': maim. (m?m) tr.v. maimed, maim·ing, maims. 1. To injure, disable, or disfigure, usually by depriving of the use of a limb or other part of the body.

Hey, that could work for mobile gaming? No?

Feel free to post that on Urban Dictionary someone and 'start a thing'. ♥ Granny

I would say yes, but with stipulation. Some idle clicker title? No. A mobile port of a PC or console game (such as the Android port for Rome: Total War, or the iOS port for Monster Hunter Freedom: Unite)? Absolutely.

    The Enemy will be Destroyed,
    Victory will be Ours!

    The Final Trial awaits...

Yea it is gaming but not true gaming.. as with consoles your fully emerged but on phones you have all the sub apps taking your focus away and phonecalls and not to mention if your phone is faulty you have alot of other problems as we consider true gaming to be fully emerged within the world your playing and have your time un interupted and have available snacks and drinks at the night stand or the lounge coffee table and sometimes or all the time your gaming partner or friends with you . Etc mobile gaming is gaming but not true gaming until your allowed to take away all the distractions and problems that come with using a phone

Welcome to 2021, where phones have gaming apps that eliminate everything else from the smartphone. What you are asking for already exists.

I think that playing Mobile games, in most cases, count as gaming just as much as playing on a console or PC. Same goes for Casual vs Competitive/Co-Op.

    does it require attention,
does it take you away from reality,
does it make you hate yet love it,
is there never enough time to play it,
are you thinking about the game when your not playing,
have you played the game so much that you dream it,
do you fantasize about being in the game,
do you repeatedly play the game even though you've completed it,
are your eyes, fingers, wrist or ass sore after playing,
does your parents, spouse or friends complain that you play too much,
have you sacrificed sleep or food playing,
does it make you forget what the sun is again.

    (the list could go on)
any one of these means it's a game!

some people really enjoy playing games (and have the time to)
old time games were really hard and required alot of effort. it was actually very stressful for young children (I broke alot of consoles and controllers haha)

games nowadays (even Dark Souls etc) are quite easy compared (thankfully) and it's far more enjoyable so don't ever let anyone tell you you aren't a real gamer.
