A knife/piercing weapon that is used a lot should eventually wear out. Heck, there should even be a very small possibility that it could break. Maybe, have the option to repair or sharpen.

This will drive circulation down, and price up.

No. Seriously. Price increases for reasons like this is just asking for trouble.

I don't even use my melee most of the time, I use an AK-47, which is cheap, so you can't call me that biased here.

I'd rather not this turn into a military simulation of some sort or survival simulator, this is not really the game to factor in durability and repairs.

I think the following should happen:
Under 50% durability: Decrease equipment stats by 25% (20% with education?)
Under 25% durability: Decrease equipment stats by 50% (40% with education?)
0% durability: Decrease equipment stats by 75% (60% with education?)

Equipment should also be repairable with the following prices:
Missing Durability * Equipment Value = Total Repair Price
50 points to repair the equipment to full durability

If the equipment has no buy price, you will have to spend points to repair it. Depending on the market price, it may be cheaper to use points or sell the broken equipment to the system and buy a new one. Only equipment at 100% durability can be sold/traded to other players. This could make running equipment from other countries a more reliable source of income and reduce the stress on flower/plushie running. There can also be education to slow down durability loss and reduce equipment stat loss.

What's next? Questing / scavenging / raiding for base materials? Mining? A forge in your house? A new Crafting skill? Enchantments?

I like apples doo doo doo...

Have a stock benefit that lowers the price of repairs by a percentage?
Perhaps that's what BAG can do?

Well it sounds like we just need a repair bot or a Jeeves and I would be all for the idea.

For those who don't know what a repair bot or Jeeves is I am not going to explain it to you. LOL

This isn't world of torncraft, someone buying a weapon for billions does not want it to break because of "realism"

Why not have crafting too? I will trade you 5 iron ingots for a sheet of crocodile skin my dear mage.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they keep laughing, then they start choking on their laughter, and then they go and catch their breath. Then they start laughing even more.
