There are times, for contests etc (in faction, company, etc) where having an item that can be sent that can be exchanged for flat cash by players would be handy.

While some items come close to this (flowers can be exchanged for points, DP's sold at a loss for networth to the pawn shop, etc), I'd like to propose something to plug a small gap in this area: bullion

By having bullion that players could buy and gift, sell or trade like other items, it would allow players to have a monetary instrument that could be fixed at a set value but would have a little more security and flexibility than the other instruments available.

For example, let's say you introduce ingots in platinum, gold, and silver.

For the purposes of the example, they could have fixed values of $100m, $10m, and $1m respectively.

Each of these could be purchased only from the pawn shop (or bank, whatever) and would have to be stored in a specific type of area (ie: fortified vault) set with it's own maximum deposit values.

These items, each having their own item# like every other item, would still be trackable and therefor not any more suceptible to bypass ip blocks etc.

They could be controlled (ie: only so many released into the market per day/quarter), have an associated stock listing, and be used for specific purchases or processes for which hard cash or points are not flexible enough:

    1) they could be limited to transport by boat/plane
    2) used at varying exchange rates overseas (ie:might have a more beneficial rate for purchases which fluctuates throughout day/hour, in the different destinations).
    3) they could be used as a way to secure set amounts of cash in an instrument that can be sold back to the game.
    4) they could be gifted, dumped, city finds
    5) they could be used for "black market" purchases of the new weapon additions/ammunitions overseas.

For what it's worth, i'm just putting that out there.

If you do not allow mugging of this currency, it is just a money sinkhole to store money with no consequences. Please elaborate on the subject before I rate up or down.

I'm not saying that it can't be stolen, though I think mugging is too pedestrian for it. I'd like to see it require something more organized. For instance, paired with group attacking where in order to make off with it, it would have to be a result of a group of players in a group attack all selecting mug to be able to haul the loot away. I'd be all for it having a much higher mug payout though (20%) simply because as an instrument it should be possible to move, though cumbersome, and timing/organization would be pretty important. ie: a heist versus a mugging.

I don't think it should be protected from mugging, but I do think it should be harder to steal and the payouts for those who succeed should be substantially larger. In some sense i'm advocating for something that has different pros and cons to the instruments currently available.

Styx has a great point. It really just becomes a way to hide cash from muggers. I also think you shouldnt be able to buy, for example 1 mil in bullion for 1 mil. Also, I think prices should fluctuate, maybe taking a huge dump in value every now and again, to keep it interesting and add some risk and also give me something to read on the forums (temper tantrums, rage quits, etc.)

Which is what i was aiming for with the fluctuating rate of exchange overseas (much as gold standard rises and falls..)

It had money/ point and "half" Stock properties.
..... Its like we introduce another currency to the game.
*smiles* Bit hard to understand...let me read it again. I'm sorry.

Did you had any reason why there should be "Bullion"
Is it Bullion isn't that right.

    1) they could be limited to transport by boat/plane
    Is there a reason why.
Its like veggie. Hahaha You buy it in A (Abundant) region sell it in B (Scarce) region.

    2) used at varying exchange rates overseas (ie:might have a more beneficial rate for purchases which fluctuates throughout day/hour, in the different destinations).
What make it go up and down. System demands. Player Demands

    3) they could be used as a way to secure set amounts of cash in an instrument that can be sold back to the game.
Awright... I prefer to use point/ items/ vault/ and etc etc.

    4) they could be gifted, dumped, city finds
Just like money and items. ^_^. Did the player who receieve it should had Boat/Plane.

    5) they could be used for "black market" purchases of the new weapon additions/ammunitions overseas.
If the black market selling RPG, Kazmat Suit, Cesium, Xanax.... something.
That would influence the current price for that particular item.

I don't want the system decide how much the price/ quantity/ availability of particular item that selled there.
I want it to be player demands.

If the black market was "maintained" by a player.
Then there are no different with the ItemMarket we currently had.

It just they doesn't take cash/ points just Bullion.
    Very Picky Trader Hahahahaha *smiles*

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Mugging Part.

20% Lost is an example isn't that right.
I don't want to store my money in a place with that particular risk.

I prefer to lost 5-20K at each Xanax or 10-20K in points.
My profits already cover the future loss.

I don't think it should be protected from mugging, but I do think it should be harder to steal and the payouts for those who succeed should be substantially larger.

Nice one but how hard. Maybe you should ask Cheddy Boy suggestion to make things harder.
    Player love those.
Hahahahaha *smiles* joke. Sowwy. ^_^ Love em.

    Nice suggestion overall.
    Love the idea.

    Good Luck at it.
