I've been having some trouble with my deadlift 1rm. I can't seem to get past 390, as it seems like 405 is just a mental block. I can do 315 for 12, and 350 for 5, and every calculator or other person I have talked to says I should by far be at, or above 405. Anyone else have this problem? And does anyone have any tips for how to improve? Thanks.

Try straps maybe if you don't use them already, just to give you a bit more grip?
Pop some Pre workout to give you a little bit of a boost if you don't already?
If you're deadlifting to often or too little try playing around a bit with how often you do it a week, could be either overloading or not doing enough?
Maybe change to a sumo deadlift....
Try throwing in some rack pulls...
Just a few suggestions, no garuntee they'll work but no harm in trying...

Right. I've highly considered bands, and also deficit deadlifts, and I haven't been doing it much, but I've been doing enough legs and back to think it would be over 405 now. Any 1rm calculator I use says i should be around 440. My powerlifting coach thinks its a big mental thing also. Pre workout might be a good idea, but maybe only when I compete because I don't wanna pump that much caffeine in my body xD. I'm too short to do sumo, and rack pulls is a good idea. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll for sure try a few of them out!

Yeah, assistant exercises is a good shout. Rack pulls etc

Where do you feel, (or your coach sees), you get stuck the most on the deadlift?
Use some assistant exercises to help you in those positions.

Deficit deadlifts, straight legged. Romanians and stiff-leg. For the top?
Yates rows? Pretty much like a deadlift stance, but rows. From the knee height only.
Also with Romanian. Don't necessarily have to full lock out every rep, just trying to train the mid range.

Front squats, for quads. For the bottom? Also mentioned, rack pulls.

Have to go out, didn't finish. :(

    I'll edit soon.

And yeah of course best thing is just dead lifting. But yeah add in accessories! :D

Also, more mobility before you deadlift? Especially working on getting your glutes firing.

Can't miss out the mind too, blast your killer music, think of some f**ked up shit. Breathe deep into your balls and go for it!

+ I'd be happy with 390 >.< I stopped going to the gym for a year and lost about 2 stone, then went back for about 2 months before taking another month off (Too busy).

I went to the gym Yesterday, for the first time after my month break and felt like crying.. so, so weak.

Different people progress at a different rate. How was your rate of progression earlier? Was it faster or slower than it is now?
