Not to forget many of these ‘women’ went in as minors and came out as adults.

The dehumanizing language that nytimes the guardian use is disproportionately reserved for Palestinians.
It is a systemic problem in mainstream media’s misrepresentation of the reality on the ground in Israel and occupied Palestine.
• The Israelis released are described as “hostages” whereas the Palestinians are “prisoners”
• The Israeli children held by Hamas for weeks are described as children. The Palestinian children held by Israel for decades are described as ‘minors’ or ‘18 and younger’.
WHERE IN THE REPORTING AND STORYTELLING ARE THE FACTS AND CONTEXT ??
Israel’s occupational army has detained 880 Palestinian children since the start of 2023.
• There are between 500 and 1000 children held in Israeli military detention each year.
• They are all ‘hostages’, kidnapped from their families, without charge, in most cases. To describe them as “prisoners” and minors, is as dehumanizing as it is misleading.
• Most Palestinian children are beaten, handcuffed and blindfolded during arrest. They are interrogated at unknown locations without the presence of a caregiver, and are deprived of food, water and sleep, or access to legal counsel.
• The main alleged crime for these detentions is stone throwing, which can carry a 20-year sentence in prison for Palestinian children.
