Annnnnnnnnnnyway. Let’s get this thread back on topic.

This law largely expands on a previous law, so pretty much covers all LGBT+ representation. It will be illegal to show any sort of queer relationship in any media.

I suspect this law is coming up now as part of Putin’s Anti-West push. Anything the west does will be seen as wrong so Russia will do the opposite. The west is pro-LGBT+ rights, well then Russia will be anti them.

On channels like russia1 they are promoting, in an aggressive way, the idea that all others are satanists ...

I’d be surprised if they went back to full communism, or even the fake not really communism, just a load of oligarchs getting rich thing they had going on before. I see it going towards a modern day China model. Extreme censorship and removal of “wrong” ideas and ideals. They will struggle though as they don’t have the years of indoctrination China does, and brain drain will force their young skilled workers to move to more liberal states in the EU. They will have to lock their borders or lose a lot of skilled people.

On which bit? I mean, if you're wanting an example of counterrevolution, just look at the collapse of the USSR. Both Lenin and Stalin wrote many letters about fighting bureaucratic counterrevolution within the Party itself. Eventually party counterrevolution won and Yeltsin collapsed the USSR against the democratic will of the people.

You phrase this as a genuine desire to keep things healthy and avoid insulting each other, and I am very much in favor of both of those things, so in that spirit, Faether/Awara has specifically requested not to be called dude, bro, man, etc. a couple of times now. Like... if you know someone named Jessica, and she reaaaalllllyyyy hates it when people call her Jessy, you would either try to suppress the urge to call her Jessy or expect a certain degree of hostility from her in return. (It's an easier decision to make in text, since we have delete and edit-post buttons.)

I agree he is targeting a minority like he has with muslims in his country in the past labeling them terrorists to get the Russian people angry and united behind him as a diversion to the war he is losing. I wonder who he will target next

The government of the Russian Federation has taken a hardline anti-LGBT+ stance for a very long time. If it's a distraction from government incompetence, then this is a government that's never felt particularly confident in its ability to look competent.
