Milley is probably referring to the incident right at the end of trump's reign where he sent a diplomatic envoy to Taiwan in an official plane. Trump's version of the story is that he called it off at the last minute, but china and Taiwan's version is pretty different.

When we realized that Trump intended to pull this stunt, the PLA contacted the US military and said that the envoy would be shot down on her way to Taiwan. America contacted Taiwan to provide a fighter escort, but Taiwan refused to commit to her safety because that would be as good as a declaration of independence.

There were plans to send an American escort from Japan, but the military confirmed that if the PLAAF attacked in force, the envoy would be at best, forced to retreat. Trump apparently wanted to escalate but Pompeo managed to cancel the trip at the last minute.

He made a statement. Collete asked for a source, he then made a statement that Collete would need to be able to read Mandarin as if he doesn't. He doesn't know if he does or not.

No, it made no sense other than to be a provocative act.

They were planning this a week out from being a former administration. You can bet your ass this was the kind of foreign policy crafted over the Pompeos dinner parties, not backed by the Intel, military or career state department insight.

I'm sorry, why exactly do we need links for this?

Here is a more recent incident from July, where it's quite clearly stated that a plane could be shot down for "violating air space"

    https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202107/1228730.shtml

It's a question of whether PLA is right in claiming Taiwan as part of their territory.

    Hoch [1772040]

Sorry Taiwan is an independent nation. Shooting down such an aircraft would be a declaration of war and an international crime. Instead of backing down, they should have proceeded.

    Bhappychap [2270497]

We are all glad you have absolutely no role in global politics.

    Hoch [1772040]

who is we? you saggy ballz, cap n hand, sea hag?
And another 7.5 billion people, but again, if you want to fight China, I won't stop you. Put your head where your mouth is and go to China, I'll sponsor you a webcam so we can follow your progression whenever we want.

This is likely on the Hoch bingo card

1- Asks me if I'm okay with the threat of a shoot down - I am not.

2- Then proceeds to suggest that they should have proceeded even if it led to the shooting of a plane with diplomats.

You can't make up for stupid.

I'm pretty sure the vast majority will oppose WW 3. But you seem to get horny by the thought of millions dying, I'm pretty sure you won't even go yourself, you leave others to do the dying for you. Talk about being elitist
