This is going to be a huge problem for multiple countries.

I dont know about Canada, but we cant even take care of the homeless that we have now.

We could, but we refuse to help those who want to be helped (Some homeless people do not want to be helped).

This is ass backwards thinking by the Biden administration. He did say immigrants are the future. They dont have to take any vaccines either.

The Biden admin only bringing them in for cheap slave labor. For the bottom end jobs that Americans dont want.

Make that make sense to me.

    Larten_Crepsley [1569797]

This is the cost of a so called “war on terror”. The way I see it America just spent the good part of 20 years plundering Afghanistan and turning it into a shit hole. Check the civilian casualties. What have they actually achieved in their 20 years of being there ? And what the hell has 8 trillion dollars of tax payers money spent on this bullshit done for America ?

    You are not wrong:

US airstrikes killed at least 22,000 civilians since 9/11, analysis finds

The Taliban literally gained more popularity over the years that the USA was there, only for the fact that people don't like to be killed, or at least, the chance to get the hell bombed out of them for no reason.

Thankfully the Taliban are in power and will respect womens rights to education and work and will bring democracy to the country and accept all religions and LGTBQ people.

Not so long ago the West were killing LGBTQ and making it ILLEGAL.

Not to forget you used to burn women at the pyre for being witches. Also didn't the evil muslamics help you out the dark ages? and didn't they contribute hugely to science during their golden ages?

Maybe in 100 years you will be invading countries to protect peado rights, judging by what you most likely endorse being taught to kids in today's primary schools

    Collete [1389080]

Dude i think you are confused Im not endorsing that garbage in schools you be sniffing glue sticks ?
Oh okay so it's garbage when it's your kids being taught it but you are happy to drop bombs to try force kids on other side of world to put up with it

You act like you're intelligent all you do is spout things from the same mainstream you say you object to

And you saying you shouldn't accept any refugees shows you refuse to take any responsibility for the blowback of your own actions

I agree with your final point though, it certainly is a waste of money and lives.

This war was about everything BUT democracy, I am sure such a learned person as yourself has looked into the workings of the global war machine and all it's private contracts at the cost of human lives

Also on a final note, this 'evil Taliban' is the same people called 'freedom fighters' when they helped defy soviet occupation. You know the same ones from the Rambo movie. Maybe in 10 years we will see them as good guys again?

Not all Mujahideen were Taliban most of the Mujahideen in the north of the country fought against them.

Seems some of them refugees are being locked up due to possible terror links.

An Afghan evacuee under watch in France for possible links to the Taliban has been convicted of leaving surveillance.
The man -- identified only as Ahmat M. -- was given a suspended sentence for leaving the hotel where he was restricted and travelling to Paris.
He was one of five Afghan nationals who were placed under surveillance earlier this month when they were repatriated to France.
French authorities had suspected that the five men had indirect links to the Taliban and confined them and their families in a hotel in Noisy-le-Grand upon arrival.
Ahmat M. was given a 10-month suspended prison sentence at the urgent court hearing on Wednesday.

An Afghan national who has been relocated to a US military base in Germany has been arrested on charges of failing a security check, Europe’s top US general said Thursday.
The man’s identity is “protected” by the Pentagon and is not believed to be a “high threat”.
“They are currently under the appropriate custody of US Intelligence officers, and Germany is very cooperative, and we are still conducting their background investigation,” said General Todd Wolters, chief of the European Command Told reporters Via video conference from the Pentagon.
Regardless of the person in custody, at least 58 Afghan nationals are flagged as requiring additional screening.

The Northern alliance is made mainly of ethnic Tajiks and other minority groups and have some support from Russia via Tajikistan as it serves as a geographical barrier.

Very few of them are fighting for freedom most joined the Taliban, and it's well known the northern alliance was propped up by India aswell as other nations as a base to cause instability and to orchestrate attacks against Pakistan.

For the longest time India was using US occupation to use Afghanistan to destabilise provinces in Pakistan like Balochistan but they are too afraid to put their own boots on the ground so right now they are just calling the US cowards for forcing them to evacuate which is laughable

Also on a related note , most of the countries outraged have connections linking them to the funding of ISIS so I would take their reports with a pinch of salt. But certainly there will be bad actors like Al Qaeeda looking to get into the west during this mad rush so the west needs to be cautious in how it operates from here on

The Taliban didn't exist in that time. And a commander from the muhajideen started the Taliban, the Mujahideen was never a group with a single ideology, but different groups with different ideas, and the people that are now the Taliban were included.

Afghanistan has always been a crap hole sadly.

The western nations tried to civilize it but it was never going to work. The only way to make it 'work' would to have 10s of thousands of NATO troops there 'forever'

NATO does have many troops all around the world ie not in their home countries. So if the powers that be thought it was worth it to 'hold' afghanistan we would have done it. Looking from afar ie not knowing the details. Its not 'worth it' for NATO to occupy Afghanistan and that is what we was doing before we began withdrawing troops.

It was not 'worth it' for Nato to occupy Afghanistan.

But i think The USA made a grave error. Totally abandoning Afghanistan was not a smart move. Trumps biggest of many errors he made when he was president signing the NATO withdrawal deal with the Taliban.

We should have maintained a token force of a few thousand troops with some air support. That would have been enough to put off the Taliban.

Afghanistan is now going to descend into madness, poverty, starvation and total economic collapse ...

It is very very sad but those are the facts.

There are already millions of afghan refugees who have fled. More are going to flee now and are fleeing as we speak.

As someone who lives in europe ie the UK we do see on the news 'lots' of Afghans trying to reach the UK on boats from mainland europe.

That is NOTHING. There are millions of afghan refugees in Pakistan their neighbour and that is NOT exaggerating. There are millions of afghans who have fled the country. It is a exodus. Afghanistan was depopulating rapidly even before NATO left afghanistan.

It is now going to get worse. A LOT worse ...

Forum signatures make my eyes hurt so i have turned them off.

Oh okay so it's garbage when it's your kids being taught it but you are happy to drop bombs to try force kids on other side of world to put up with it

You act like you're intelligent all you do is spout things from the same mainstream you say you object to

Stick to playing online gangster on torn plz

    Collete [1389080]

    Are you slow ?

it would explain many things I don't support my country sending forces to any 3rd world shithole , its a waste of money and our soldiers lives .

    Heisenberg [1574771]

The fact is that they do

And you saying you shouldn't accept any refugees shows you refuse to take any responsibility for the blowback of your own actions

I agree with your final point though, it certainly is a waste of money and lives.

This war was about everything BUT democracy, I am sure such a learned person as yourself has looked into the workings of the global war machine and all it's private contracts at the cost of human lives

Also on a final note, this 'evil Taliban' is the same people called 'freedom fighters' when they helped defy soviet occupation. You know the same ones from the Rambo movie. Maybe in 10 years we will see them as good guys again?

    Collete [1389080]

Armed police have arrested an Afghan special forces commando at a hotel in Manchester where he had been in quarantine with his family after arriving on an evacuation flight from Kabul, Sky News has learnt.
It is understood that he is being held under immigration powers and an investigation is still ongoing.

The Vietnam war was wrong and a failure and so was Afghanistan.

    Hoch [1772040]

so where is Canada going to house those 400K immigrants, not to mention refugees, etc. coming this year alone? Lowest in the G7 for housing units per capita.

    EddieLee706 [1591144]

    Capgros [2088627]

    You are not wrong:

US airstrikes killed at least 22,000 civilians since 9/11, analysis finds

The Taliban literally gained more popularity over the years that the USA was there, only for the fact that people don't like to be killed, or at least, the chance to get the hell bombed out of them for no reason.

    Collete [1389080]

Thankfully the Taliban are in power and will respect womens rights to education and work and will bring democracy to the country and accept all religions and LGTBQ people.

    Heisenberg [1574771]

Not to forget you used to burn women at the pyre for being witches. Also didn't the evil muslamics help you out the dark ages? and didn't they contribute hugely to science during their golden ages?

Maybe in 100 years you will be invading countries to protect peado rights, judging by what you most likely endorse being taught to kids in today's primary schools

That would mean we'd be there forever.

    No way Jose.

Cut our losses and let's GTFO of being the world's police.
We shouldnt be the world police. But we should have left a few thousand troops there to maintain stability.

Afghanistan is VERY unstable now the taliban are 'in charge'

Anyone with half a brain AND enough money to travel to the border is leaving now.

The brainless, the old, the poor, the kids who are left behind are in deep trouble and face a very dark future.

No /little money. And all what that brings. Starvation, homelessness, no jobs, no education, no hope. Its very very sad. Afghanistan was close to a 3rd world nation when we was there. They are doomed now. Within a year there will be charity commercials on the tv asking us to donate to the starving in afghanistan..

The country will never be stable and as soon as you pull the "few thousand troops" in the future - it would have fell so you're just delaying the inevitable. I'm sure we'd disagree on this but I feel although it's bad what happened, but it's probably better to pull the bandaid off faster.

Of course i agree with everything you said its completely valid.

I just think it would be better for us to have a 'token' presence there to maintain stability than to see the mess we are going to see in the coming years.

It will be a horrible mess in the coming years.. really bad.

I would rather we 'pay the bill' and have a token presence there than the mess which is coming ...
