That immigration is a net benefit to our country and rather than building fences and performing raids we should give people documentation and a path towards citizenship.

They have a path, "they" always have...Fill out a form and wait like all the others that did the same before you.

If you are here (USA) illegally, then no, GTFO.

You have already committed a crime and it will not look good on your application, should you choose to actually fill one out the next round.

But who is and is not legal is something we decide. I don't think people trying to have a better life should be considered illegal. I think raids are unnecessary if we just stop the counterproductive policy of making asylum and immigration a giant complex and difficult process.

Drop the barriers and get people legal status' and we make sure they can be laid decent wages and benefit the country even more than they do now.

That's a reasonable position. We do after all decide who's legal and not. The thing is, we've already decided that, and the illegal aliens broke that law, and certain Admins encouraged, aided and abetted them doing so.

It's just a sad commentary on the state of the Democrat party that their biggest argument against deporting illegal aliens (and by the way, they even resist deporting CRIMINAL aliens) is that we need the illegal immigrants to work on our farms for low wages.

I don't think your amnesty idea would fulfill the stated wishes of the Democrats, because once the illegal aliens become legal aliens and subject to our legal labor market, the economic advantage extracted from them will disappear - they will be getting paid a fair market rate like everyone else.

I support legal immigration. I think we should limit that more coming from certain countries, and we should increase it coming from others. I also think that in general the rate of immigration (which, by the way, is the highest in the USA out of all other countries) needs to be at a rate that allows cultural integration.

But beyond that, the main thing is we should not be spending taxpayer dollars to welcome illegal aliens, put them up in hotels, give them huge EBT accounts, fly and bus them around the country.

That's all stopping now. And I'm happy to see the greatly reduced rate of border leak. It's down about 90% at the moment from pre-Trump numbers.
