Long thread I started to read some and said ok I can't sit here all day lol..

My views span across the spectrum depending on the issue at hand.

Being in Canada I love the healthcare system, so I guess in that sense you could say I'm socialist leaning.

I also believe people should have the freedom to express themselves however they please. Kinda liberal I guess.

I also think able bodied people should have to work for a living, and not sit on "government assistance" (taxpayer assistance).

I believe we should respect everybody, regardless of race, religion, gender etc.

I do believe capitalism offers the only fair chance for people to succeed.
Just because most people don't succeed, shouldn't restrict those that do.
Big government capitalism should be regulated. It's a fine line, because obviously those with more money have more influence. We need folks in control who don't only care about money.
Money is the root of alot of evil in the world.
I just don't like the idea of everybody being equal monetarily. Because as nice as it sounds, we won't be equal up here ^, the same evil forces would still be in control. The same cast of characters that have been keeping society down wouldn't want to empower them at an equal spot as them. Instead it would be equal down here ___ and we would be working for a pittance, barely getting by. But hey, atleast we'll all be equal to each other, right?

True democracy is dead in the world. It's an illusion of choice. They pick the puppets and put on a show, we fight amongst each other about which puppet is better, and through all of our fighting the puppeteers gain more power over all of us.

There's no easy solution out of our current global crisis of power and control. We must first all unite as one and refocus our energy in the proper direction.

    Viracocha [1772040]

I upvoted you but not for the healthcare comment in Canada.

We have a lot of problems and the narratives are false. You'd have far better healthcare in Portugal than Canada.

    TwstdInsightOut [1893719]

Eh it's not perfect, but I'd much rather our system of taxpayer dollars making it accessible for all, rather than "fend for yourself when you need it"

    Viracocha [1772040]

If you think that's what the US is, you are incorrect entirely. In fact Canada's health care is ranked rather low by the WHO.

    Capgros [2088627]

    Well the list doesn't lie:

    https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/best-healthcare-in-the-world

Spain is in the top 10 at 7, pretty good for a shitty country like this, USA is 37 and Canada 30, so still above the USA. 1st is the people's republic of France, they have a public healthcare system, just like the other countries in the top 10
    No.

And as long as Canadians think our healthcare system is the gold standard, improvements won't happen.

    Have a Great Day!

Nope I don't think it's a gold standard by any means. There are plenty of flaws. The wait times alone are crap.

I've been back and forth in my opinion over the years. I thought the US system sounded good a handful of years ago.. then I had kids lol

We'll continuously have doctor shortages and growing demands for doctors for higher salaries as long as we have the clusterf**k south of the border.

Infrastructure is an ongoing cost regardless of the system. Pharmaceutical costs also higher and more tenuous supply lines as a result of the American system.

Our system isn't the gold standard, but we should at least frame the issue within the larger context of what is influencing two of the three largest contributors to health care costs.

In the American political arena, I'm kinda in the middle. Officially I'm "Independent", but if I had to pigeonhole myself, I'd say I'm fiscally conservative and socially liberal.

In short, my philosophy is "Do what you want as long as you aren't hurting others or being obnoxious/offensive, but don't expect me to pay for your lifestyle."

The way I see it... we should take care of our local community. Our friends and neighbors. If everyone focused on making the little piece of the world around them better, and help those they can, eventually we will get to a place where EVERYBODY has a higher quality of life.

The problem is, people are selfish and feel entitled for whatever insane reason they can think of that makes them think that THEY are more special than everyone else and deserve preferential treatment.

Lately I have been leaning more Republican/conservative though as I'm getting tired of being attacked by the left, aka "the party of tolerance" , because I'm a straight white guy. I've lost track of the number of times people have assumed that I am where I am because I have some sort of "privilege", been told to "check myself", and been told I'm "clueless" all based on my skin color. If there are two groups of people, and one group wants to continually attack and denigrate me - I'm certainly not going to be "pro" anything that they stand for because all I've seen from them is bigotry, hatred, racism, sexism, etc. Doesn't mean I care for the other group, but hey, at least they aren't attacking me at every turn and being extreme hypocrites about it.

I would need a list of subjects for this.

Freestyling on ideologies / beliefs would be a mess to read, there is literally hundreds of things to have a position on.

"Refusing to help a neighbor who's house burned down is shitty. Refusing when you helped start the fire is monstrous."

Well, meanwhile I remembered about Democracy 4, so found myself a reasonable list of topics to start with...

Now all i need is the time to rant about it all.

I try to remember to stop by here again soon enough to start on it.

Triumph is an inevitable source of greatness

For all things to exist they must collide

    Procrastination is not determination
