Anyway I'd say that the actual retard is you since you clearly haven't seen more than 5 films. Otherwise you wouldn't think that LOTR is pinnacle of cinema. -

More serious, I like Donnie Darcko, another film you have to watch a couple of times to understand but well worth the multiple run throughs -
