But its not as bad as I was expecting. It's quite watchable, and its not like there is plenty in TV that is watchable these days so... -

In the lord of the rings anyone else recognize the orcs and goblins as old school English commoners and Londoners? Not available for working in a company. Studying and project work takes priority not logging into Torn.

I've never read the books so i'm not going to critique the characters. It will be interesting if they give an explanation as to where all the black elves and dwarves vanish to in the future . . . -

lotr is one of my favourite series of all time ever
so far i have seen people complain that they spent too much on the exposition, back drops and musical scores
ps it doesnt actually cost 1b
Costing a reported $465 million for its first season alone, with a second season already in the works at Amazon, the adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's work follows 23 series regulars during the lesser-known story of the Second Age of Tolkien's Middle-earth. 4 days ago -

Funny how racist trolls are mad at Rings of Power for changing the "author's vision" by casting POC, but are ALSO mad at the Sandman series for casting POC, even though the author Neil Gaiman says that's what he wants. Maybe it's not about "the author's vision" after all.

Entire f**king book series about goodness defeating evil by different races coming together, and the rekindling of community. And yet we still have racist unbathed f**ks out here crying and snotting because Rings of Power cast Black people as elves and dwarves. Pathetic.
i am noticing a theme hereLast edited by H4D35 on 17:37:40 - 07/09/22 (2 years ago) -

In the books, Tolkien describes the Harfoots as being "browner of skin" than Hobbits. Here are two screenshots of Harfoots in the Rings of Power show. Guess which one people are mad about.

In the Hunger Games books, Rue is described as having "dark brown skin and eyes". When a Black actress was cast to play a canonically Black character, there was enough of an outcry to make several news headlines.

Ever since the release of Sandman, Neil Gaiman, the author - who has refused any retelling of Sandman until he was absolutely certain it could be told according to his vision - has been battling racist, sexist, and transphobic trolls who directly disagree with his vision
always the same people crying, maybe they need a safe space -

Posted on 18:29:46 - 07/09/22 (2 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkI was watching a video by a mega nerd whining about the rings of power and he said something interesting. Basically he said that Amazon never got the rights to the Silmarillion so therefor they had to construct a new plot line, as they couldn’t piggy back a Tolkien story.
However maybe a different mega nerd could help clear up, I thought the whole forging of the rings of power story came from the Silmarillion in the first place, so I’m not sure how this is true. -

Don't forget Tolkien served in WW1...
