THE RINGS OF POWER

If possible, one that's not ridiculous or incredibly stupid (think Galadriel trying to swim from Valinor to Middle Earth, or two elven guys going from Eregion to Khazad-Dum on foot as if they went out to buy cigarettes, or...).
Music is good and it looks nice, though. -

But... even with changes there is no explanation for some stupid/silly things :D -

Em TROP spoilers
@hobbitsimp_
The feathers on Elrond’s shoulders are a reference to his mother, Elwing!
I love the care this show has taken with the finer details and references!

Episode 3 perfectly established Arondir as a selfless character. He cut down the tree to keep anyone else from getting hurt. He told the Watch Warden to free himself rather than helping him with the warg. He was ready to die so another elf could be freed. #TheRingsOfPowerLast edited by H4D35 on 04:50:00 - 12/09/22 (2 years ago) -

Mermaids can be Black. Hobbits can be Black. Elves can be Black. Dwarves can be Black. Jedi can be Black.
None of these things are real, so, any of them can be Black, and you can stop being racist. -

Also was expected to to be a violent as it was, although i do realise the irony when a dude was decapitated in the first film -

Two more beautiful The Rings of Power visual references to 19th century art. This time, it's Galadriel next to Leon Francois Comerre's The Girl with the Golden Wreath (1900), and Míriel next to Herbert Gustave Schmalz's Zenobia's Last Look Upon Palmyra (1888). #TheRingsOfPower -

No one cares about skin colour in this, but the writing. It's just dull...I will never lie to you. What I say is how I feel...

Once I started caring about the characters and their actions, everything changed. -

Posted on 18:16:55 - 03/10/22 (2 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkSo far I'm liking it, kinda. Love everything about the locations. They are beautiful. The writing is great world building but just a bit slow. Too much teasing of what's to come.
Galadriel is annoying. For as old and experienced as she is supposed to be she is written very immaturely. Her constant pouting and glouring is tiring already. If my shoulders were as hunched and tight as hers I would probably have the same expression on my face.
As far as the POC thing some people have an issue with I do too but not like everyone else does. If the Harfoot are darker skinned than the other two Hobbit races then make them all dark skinned! Not just two or three. There are more than one race of elves so why is there only one dark skinned elf? Give me more! The way it is seems more like tokenism than anything else. I find this diversity casting of only a few POC way more insulting and racist.
I fell asleep twice (three times) in the same spot in e5 so imta week behind now. Looking forward to the rest of the series and keeping hopeful for the next seasons to be better. They say good things happen to bad people, or the other way around, I forget, but it doesn't really matter because everyone is a bad guy to somebody, right?

also in regards to galadriel i think everyone is expecting the characters to be perfect and infallible from day 0 without leaving any room whatsoever for developing the characters lol
like aye lets just transplant Final Form Ultimate Instinct Galadriel from the movies at full power into the start of the prequelesque series and watch her mow down orcs for a whole season while sauron is a noob still trying to make a swordLast edited by H4D35 on 14:05:19 - 09/10/22 (2 years ago) -

Posted on 18:24:28 - 09/10/22 (2 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkI get it. She needs to show growth as a character. I also feel that for being around in the first age and now close to the end of the second, she should have developed better social skills. I did get caught up also. This last episode or two were good. I enjoyed them. I do think I figured out what the problem I have (and probably many others) with the show is though. It is the writing. It's good and I'm expecting great. I feels like I could have written something just as good.
Also, the pacing. It is slow which would be fine if there were more than eight episodes. Now we have to wait a year. We know where the series will end most likely. (Isildur taking then losing the ring) but there is so much between there and where we are now. The rings need to be made, handed out and then the corruption to set in. That is quite a bit to cover in 3 more seasons knowing the last will be the final conflict. And that is just one plot line. I blame Amazon for that. Let them be more Netflix and push to 10-12 episodes.
Sorry for the long rant but I was waiting forever for this show. Possibly I had too high expectations for this show. I don't think so since I usually give a wide berth to creative needs and steam lining the story. I actually liked the Hobbit. I felt the the dwarf/elf romance was a bit forced but understood from a story point of view that it was necessary to fill seats. Dwarves with short beards were fine also as well as all the quirky looks. If each character was fleshed out like the book it would've been 12 movies long! lolThey say good things happen to bad people, or the other way around, I forget, but it doesn't really matter because everyone is a bad guy to somebody, right?
