Not sure if you are watching this on Netflix, good show, but...

Why make John Constantine a female f**king cockney? It's bad enough what they did with the movie, but why can't they just have a drunk f**king Glasweagon play the role?

Does that not fit with the f**king American TV audience?

I just don't get why these f**king TV execs change characters for no f**king reason...

What's next? A white extreamist Black Panther or a female Rincewind...

Equality and all, but a character is a f**king character...

Gandalf may have been Bi, we just don't know...

I will never lie to you. What I say is how I feel...

The Sandman from Netflix is unfortunately subpar

I think this sums up your thoughts about the show.

Funny you should mention female Rincewind.

You should check out The Watch. Or I mean you really shouldn't because they completely ass-f**ked Pratchetts legacy with that abominable bullshit.

Executives are on another world in every field.

To jazz things up I'd like to see a very camp Carrot with a very effeminate Vimes run The Watch.

I bought The Hogfather secondhand on dvd hope they haven't messed with it .
Terry Pratchett doesn't need tweaking because his writing really had some deep subjects in it already.

Not available for working in a company. Studying and project work takes priority not logging into Torn.

Taking my time watching this, or I would've finished by Sunday morn.

I liking it so far, and regret not reading the comics when it was recommended to me back in the 90s.

    Of course I did lol.

When I was advised to read Sandman, it was around 1992. Image Comics had come out around that time, and the market was being flooded by a ton of shit back then.

I’ve not read the comics, but I did enjoy the show.

Reading OPs post, I think eventually they will make her a love interest for Dream.

Psh, we both know that's the only Constantine that matters.
I do however agree with your point, esp when it's a remake of an old goodie.
not everything needs a change - idk why so many stories/shows/movies have to follow along

The main question is, why do directors seem to think they can change characters to suit their own f**king ideals?

The story is the story. If you loved it, you loved it. Don't f**k with it...

Without going all conspiracy theory, I think it's a way to solidify social change through the stuff we view the most.
But I highly agree - I always wonder if they talked to the creator before making such a dramatic change.
But I don't think half the remakes made today are for the people that actually enjoyed them but more a money grab
using an existing story because its too hard to make something new

    Considering that

    A) Neil Gaiman was heavily, heavily involved in the making of the show and made the change as there were constrictions on using "John" by Warner (he's been used in other series recently and I think there's some legal entanglements there.
    B) Johanna wasn't a cockney. you'd know if she was a cockney.
    C) I thought the show was a pretty faithful adaptation, there were always going to be technical limitations on what can be can (Sturridge makes a good Morpheus, even if he's not bone-white with star-eyes.
    D) Directors don't change characters, the writers do. Producers may influence the writing direction, but at the end of the day, the showrunner (head writer) is the one that actually dictates the show's story. Directors are only responsible for the episode they are directing., much the same way actors only say lines and don't improv the whole thing.

Oh, and if you start thinking that the TV show is "woke", you have never read the comics.

    Personally, I enjoyed it.

The show is owned by Warner Brothers, and they have done shit with the licence since the movie, so no worries...

Also, throw in a few extra bucks to get the actor who played Lucifer, make it link, makes it better...

Don't get me wrong, I love the show, but it could be better in many small ways...
