Jurassic Park Does Not Have Real Dinosaurs

    I'm guessing because the new movie is coming out, (Which looks AMAZING!), people keep digging up this old argument like it matters but it still really grinds my gears hearing it. Yes we all know that dinosaurs have been discovered with feathers, much of what we think dinosaurs look like is wrong most likely, yes some of them prob have different colors and yes the T-rex was prob a scavenger and not a hunter, BUT

    NONE OF THIS MATTERS IN THE JURRASIC PARK FRANCHISE

    It is specifically stated IN THE FIRST MOVIE that all the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are mixed with other kinds of DNA, most notably frog/amphibian DNA, because they weren't able to collect complete samples and needed to fill in the genetic code. This means that no matter what we discover regarding Dinosaurs, and if they were actually just giant parrots with beaks, it does not change the Jurassic Park universe because they are, and I quote, "genetically engineered theme park monsters". Their are no dinosaurs for you to bitch about not being accurate in the new movie as last i checked not many frogs have feathers. That's like saying the alien's in Independence Day don't accurately represent what aliens looks like. lol 

    This has been a friendly rant as I love the movies. =]

    My main question is, who keeps giving them insurance and signing off the health and safety policy...

    I'd imagine that one of the perks of running a zoo on a deserted Island is you get a lot of leeway in not needing to have insurance for things you would otherwise be required to in the states. At least they definitely weren't in the USA jurisdiction, not sure if they were close enough to be considered part of Costa Rica's. lol

    Plus I see insurance for Jurassic Park having 2 sides. On the one hand the park would make SO MUCH MONEY because you know, Dinosaurs, that even if a whole family got eaten they would be able to settle any lawsuit with ease even if they don't have insurance. On the other hand they would be making SO MUCH MONEY because you know, the only place in the world with Dino's, that they would pay any astronomical amount insurance companies would ask for and not even sweat it. lol

    I actually didn't know this about JP lore; but the meta reasoning makes the argument even more dumb lol. Since frogs are a separate family so whatever DNA frogs shared with dinosaurs, that part would less likely be missing but rather common between all amphibians, mammals, reptiles, birds, and dinosaurs all with the shared ancestry.

    If frog DNA was a big factor we should expect way more frog looking dinosaurs if the missing parts were the amphibian specific DNA. Besides that, DNA is lost or divergent between evolutions, so the frog DNA most likely wouldn't even be relevant or useful to dinosaurs except to add frog characteristics.

    I guess it's easier to not think about it and enjoy the fiction lol
