Hey, looking for horror movie recommendations. I’m pretty deep dive on 80s to 2000. Particularly looking for some good slashers I might have missed and brandy new stuff. I stopped reading magazines when COVID hit. Some of my favorites are trick ‘r treat, behind the mask: the rise of Leslie Vernon, and Halloween at Aunt Ethel’s. Not really a fan of most Troma post the original toxic avenger.

I really liked Hush. I’ve been reluctant on Mandy because of Nick Cage, he’s hit or miss for me. I will have to have to check that and color out of space. Burning is criminally underrated.

I have to admit foreign horror I’m a bit light on due to subtitles. It’s hard to read when you’re drinking—this may be part of why I like slashers in particular. I’ll try to sober up and give these a run.

I was going to suggest Uzumaki
Yeah and in the Mouth of Madness is great. I had my step dad take me when I was 13. To me at that age the story it was like a wow feeling. Like so surprise to see a story do that.
Sorry I can not think of any at the moment that I know the names of.
As for what the other guy was talking about with the Ring. I saw the Korean Version which is different than the Japanese one.
I can say ones not to watch
The Pumpkin Karver Oh that one is so stupid and the guy is supposed to be some great pumpkin carver and they look hideous.
Laid to Rest. That was so bad
Though they made a sequel to it I just want to see how bad it is.
Here are some
Body Bag
Night of the Demons (the original the remake was disappointing because the messed up the best parts of it.)
There is a silly horror comedy from 1973 called Arnold
Midnight Movie ( I woke up to this towards the end of it but it seemed interesting.)
The Final Girls ( It is a bit of a parody of slasher movies but it is interesting.) -

Literally wearing an army of darkness baseball T-shirt and drinking coffee out of my Evil Dead the musical mug. (Just added profile picture.) I had a hard time with feast. It reminded me a lot of the Terror Within also I’m not too big on forced fornication. A reason none of the I spit on your grave franchise cracks my top 100.

I only watched Terror Firmer but I'm not a fan of Troma either. Here are some more recent movies you might not have seen:
- American Mary (anything with Katharine Isabelle)
- The Cleansing Hour
- Anything for Jackson
- One cut of the dead (so much fun)
- The Poughkeepsie Tapes (I love found footage movies)
If you like home invasion horror like Hush:
- Don't Breathe
- The Collector
- You're Next -

Laid to rest and ChromeSkull belong to that category "so bad they're good". They know they're bad and I had a lot of fun watching them. Just don't take them too seriously :)
But I'd also suggest Hatchet (all of them), Wrong turn (all of them), and See no evil -

I'm a big Adam Green fan too, I loved Digging Up the Marrow and Frozen.
Sign up to Shudder if you haven't already. There's a new Creepshow series which I'm dying to watch but I haven't yet because I can't watch one episode and be expected to wait a week for another episode :) so I'm going to wait a bit longer.
Also I recommend: Never Hike Alone and Never Hike in the Snow if you're a Friday the 13th fan :) -
