Oh man, I definitely agree. Season 3 was incredible. The mosaic episode with Eliot and Q was simultaneously heart-warming and heart-wrenching, and it really highlighted the depth of their relationship. The chemistry between the two of them, both in the books and the show, has always been magical in itself. And the relationship that Eliot and Margo have (had) showed more individual depth than you'd initially attribute to either character. The way they let their guards down for each other, and only each other, really emphasized their hidden humanity (which Margo desperately needs from time to time).

I think I'm slowly coming to the realization that Eliot is the most important character for me and that may be why this season feels so awful. Like you said, it's just moody and dark for no apparent reason. Even when Eliot was super depressed Eliot, he still brought a lot of warmth to the show. Now it's just cold.

And yes, I couldn't help myself with that pun []

    TooSlowJoe [2196340]

Yea so because I DVR it I usually have to wait to respond to ya lol. Eliot is pretty much the best part of the show. I think that this latest episode where it showed where he was at his worst, the interaction between him and Q in the throne room, was almost painful to watch. Like you said, the mosaic scene was so heart-warming and in the scene mentioned they even say that they were proven to work. I mean i get it, but damn.

Also, I feel like Syfy is following this thread because with the teaser for next week, it looks like we are getting old Penny back.

    MadHatter [486416]

This most recent episode wasn't awful. The monster thing is starting to feel a bit drawn out, though. The whole "having to save Eliot's body from the manchild monster" bit is getting tedious, and the longer it goes on, the more the logic around it crumbles. We're talking about an entity that is essentially a god, that is submitting to Q's will for... like... no ****ing reason at all. He could slaughter a whole city in a day, but somehow needs the help of a magically-crippled magician?

And old Penny is boss af when he goes full Librarian mode.

Edit: As for SyFy following this thread, I wouldn't be surprised. The two people that watch their original content are both posting here. lmao
So are you current on this season?

I had a bit of trouble with last week's episode. The whole "White Male Protagonist Syndrome" thing was a bit much for me. I couldn't listen to 40 minutes of Penny schooling dude on why being white makes him an a*****e.

So... yeah... made it 5 minutes into the episode before turning it off. I'll probably give it another go in a day or two.

SyFy is trying so hard to kill the things I love. Last week's episode of Deadly Class was awful too. They're butchering the source material for pretty much no reason at all.

Yea dude I get it. Like just because I'm a white dude doesn't mean that I identify more with Q. Also, the whole white male protagonist line from THIS show is kinda bullshit. Like if you didn't want a white male protagonist, you could have made a different casting decision. Also maybe not focus the story on said white male protagonist. However, the whole episode doesn't actually revolve around this aspect. It does go into more detail into the other characters. This was definitely a  Zelda, Fen and Kady episode. Eliot doesn't even make an appearance and Q, Margo, Julia and Alice have marginal roles in the episode as a whole. Honestly, aside from the beginning of the episode, this was definitely one of the better episodes this season.

Has anyone watched this show? It is super cheesy and at times predictable, because it is a Syfy show after all. However, there are certain parts of the show, especially in season 3, where the show gets pretty deep into the human condition. It really is pretty awesome. Anyone else watch it?
i really enjoyed this show, kinda got a bit messsed up and twisted when they got into the magical land.

Sorry dude, these notifications got completely buried in my feed.

Tbh, I find Q to be one of the less relatable characters. And the show deviated strongly from the books (where all of the characters are white), so the whole "white people bad" thing doesn't make any sense. But I could look past it if they kept it in small doses. I might go back and give it another shot

Nah, I put it on the backburner and forgot about it. Aftee SyFy butchered the second half of Deadly Class, I decided I'd give them some time to get their shit together. I'll probably binge watch season 2 of Happy! and then finish The Magicians

Ok so my wife and I just binged this one, and damn I gotta say season 4 was god awful. It was way too slow and just seemed pointless. Like you have all powerful beings that can literally wreck havoc on anyone and anything and they decided that they are going to do whatever the funny people want them to do? Yea ok. Season 3 was fantastic though. That mosaic episode was top tier.
