Disney Is Ruining Star Wars

Thread created on 15:00:37 - 24/05/18 (6 years ago)|Last replied 22:52:21 - 04/07/18 (6 years ago)I'm here to prove my point, as a long time star wars fan. My arguments may not seem important to non fans, but to us long time watchers, it really hurts to see these misrepresentations. I'm sure you have all seen the lastest Star Wars movies, the 7th and the 8th. In these movies, the main character, Rey is crazy powerful. Now I'm all for equality but this is just wrong. Here's an example; During the fight with Kylo Ren, who let me remind you, has been trained in the art of the lightsaber and the force since he was just a child, Rey easily overpowers him! She only discovered she could use the force a couple of hours ago and received a lightsaber at the same time! People in Star Wars are not this good. Even the CHOSEN ONE, Anakin, didn't show this kind of power and he was the strongest force user to have ever lived. It's so simple to make characters balanced while respecting the limits of the universe you are making a movie about. Rogue One did it very well. Let me hear your opinions on this, or in other movies where this happens !

I prefer the Disney ones over the last lot Lucas spewed into the Star Wars universe... []Last edited by Sweeney_Todd on 15:58:37 - 24/05/18 (6 years ago)I will never lie to you. What I say is how I feel...

You can't force fit quotas and paint Benneton ads over reality.Have a Great Day!

Honestly society has to decide if they want reality, or just cast whoever they want to play whichever role.

Bad enough our PM in Canada went so far as to say we are the first post national state with no core values.

Until these new piles of crap were spattered on the bathroom wall, Force Unleased was counted as canon. So, that being said, Anakin/Vader was uber OP. Just sayin'.
That being said, Rogue One was the only good movie since Episode 4 through 6. -

Even with the training there seems to be a lot of distraction in him conflict and not just from the dark side. He is a bit Emoy Though I think there are some things that are going off screen and there are dead Jedi that are contacting her. Though 7 was blah 8 was a bit better. Though there are more things to complain about. Such as how hyperspace works like it gets you there almost instantly or not that long like an improbability drive. Especially in 8 Hey let us go poof over to this casino world and then waste a lot of time there and the casino looked too earth like and they should have had Max Rebo playing or some other band. Then they waste hours on there although the ships were to said only to have 4 hours until the others caught up.But on the casino planet and to get there and back just to get a guy that was not even useful , where why they needed him did not really make much sense.
Also why in 7 when they were attacking the Death Star Planet why were there just X-Wings? There were no Y-wings which you would have wanted for bombing things and also to use ion cannons,
Then this Supreme leader Snoke Guy. Where did he come from? He does not seem to make much sense. Nor given enough explanation on him.
Too much time passed between 6 and 7 and things in there act like the rebels did not really win and they were just a small handful and they did not have more backing of planets and people than they did before. -

Posted on 11:01:58 - 25/05/18 (6 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkit's because the directors changed between 7 and 8. 7 was setting up for a sequel introducing new characters and all, but then director change and kills all of the characters from 7 without any explanation. While I do agree with your point, kylo ren isn't that strong, Rey has no training and has only known she has the force for a few hours and yet can apparently beat a trained sith.

Because she had to fight to survive. Although it did seem like she could do more with the force without any training. Well J.J. Abrams or however it is spelled did 7 I do not know who directed 8. Though he was messing up Star Trek so bad I do not know why they got him. but then the first scene in that village with how the shots were set up seemed more like a Star Trek Movie than a Star Wars movie. That is how I saw it.

as for disney ... well i can't say i'm surprised that they're milking the cash cow for all it has ... holly wood has been ripe with remakes, reboots, re-imaginings, etc for over a decade and fans have been treated like atm machines so disney is just going with the flow -

Posted on 16:37:39 - 27/05/18 (6 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkThe first 2 star wars films where and are classics of the genre. The 3rd film was quite good.
To all you young whipper snappers out there im talking about the 3 films in the late 70s/early 80s.
EVERYTHING since then has been lack lustre, lacking imagination, having no soul etc etc ie generic sci fi trash to go along with most other sci fi films. Most sci fi films are like that. They arent that good.
For every star wars, blade runner, empire strikes back, aliens etc you hav to wade your way through HUNDREDS of crappy films.
To be honest im not that bothered about it. I love sci fi and horror and will literally watch ANYTHING.
But i know most of it is trash when im watching it. But its usually enjoyable trash. Some of the later star wars films are literally unwatchable. They have NOTHING.
On the subject of b movies the zombie genre is great. You know you are watching garbage, but it is so so good :PForum signatures make my eyes hurt so i have turned them off.

They could of at least respected the timeline the universe already had..

I watch a lot of sci fi/horror/zombie/action films.
Most of them are garbage im afraid. But it is a shame when a good franchise is 'ruined' by follow ups.
A big name is nothing if the next film is useless.
I always watch each film for what it is and i always think its a shame when they arent as good as their preceding films.
Disney is just a money printing machine, they churn out films.
Many sequels just dont feel the same as the orignal film/films.
I still havent got over what they did with the Alien franchise and yes i am old enough im 44 . First film great. 2nd film Aliens magnificant. Afterwards they had nothing, generic souless garbage.
Watch each film for what it is and dont get attached to a particular series. Some of the best films are just one offs, they have no follow ups, they get everything they need to do in 1 film.
Most film franchies are just flogging a dead horse after the first couple of films.Forum signatures make my eyes hurt so i have turned them off.

It's actually something I have a father-daughter bond over, although now our marathons last quite a bit longer. I understand the gripes about the prequels and the latest few; I have my own issues with bits of them too, (DESPISE Jar-Jar), but overall I enjoyed watching them as I'm a sucker for anything really to do with the franchise. (Even have watched Clone Wars and Rebels) I only wish they could settle the issue of canon better, instead of wiping out all storylines that Disney doesn't own the rights to.

Posted on 22:11:20 - 27/05/18 (6 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkOne thing I will say about the new movies, is that they take the classic and sometimes make them better...
Watching the recent two movies, as they are, the scene in the first one when the X Wings fly low over the lake at the battle of the bar. If you don't get goose bumps, you aren't a Star Wars fan...
If you don't like the Empire rip off from the last movie, with the new bad ass ATAT's and Luke staring off with the young Ben when he blasts the crap out of him and Luke just steps out unscathed, you are missing goodness...
They are not original in the slightest, but dear god they have good scenes... []I will never lie to you. What I say is how I feel...
