I remember watching this show a long time ago. So my boy Tomoya-kun is a M A D player and has a kid with his girlfriend shortly after graduating high school. Then his girlfriend dies and comes back to life. There was some stuff about colourful pet rocks that bounced around and school plays and abusive daddies. I look back on it and think to myself, what the hell did I just watch?
I strongly believe this show was a huge waste of oxygen and about as thought-provoking as a Jaiden Smith quote. The point of the show was a needle in a haystack; you look for it all day and when you find it, it pricks your finger, slits your wrists, and gives you a severe case of brain cell loss and a couple STDs to boot. Slice of life was a mistake; the only reason people watch it is because those people are lonely basement boys whose only joy comes from moe anime girls. How it has a 9+ rating on MAL is beyond me. That 9+ rating is like a pristine field of fresh green grass, and Clannad is like that steaming pile of Canadian geese turd that looks exactly like grass but once you step in it you know you messed up.
I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion right after this bad case of bird turd and never looked back. Say, have you watched Evangelion? There's a hospital scene that I think is really good. I think you should give that a go and forget that disgrace you just watched ever existed.

So I just finished watching Clannad... and I have some questions.
Ok, so I'm still really confused about the alternate universe with the girl and the robot. So the girl is Ushio and the robot is Tomoya... but what does it have to do with anything? How does it tie in with the story?
And wtf was the whole Fuko plot really?
I think I need to go back and rewatch the whole thing, maybe then I'll understand it better?
I mean I get that Nagisa had Ushio and he like lived out their life as if she died - then somehow went back in time and went back to the moment when he met her... then made the decision to meet her again even knowing how tragically it would turn out. That was very romantic and I liked that - even though there wasn't really an explanation on why that happened.
The whole show was rather confusing and honestly I liked the episode where Tomoya and Kyou ended up together more than the rest of the series.
Also, I literally just realized the names Tomoya and Tomoyo are different. I was reading them the same the entire time I was watching.
What did you think about Clannad? -

The school play was hilarious - when Nagisa's dad came running in and screamed at her that she was stupid while she was crying on the stage. I was like.... wtf is happening.
I'm still really new to anime and a friend recommended Clannad. I mean, I'm glad I watched it, just cause I can say I watched it... but I still don't understand what was happening...
Anyway. No, I haven't watched Evangelion - I'm watching Akagami no Shirayuki-hime right now (almost done though - took me like 3 months to get through the 2nd season of Clannad and I've whipped through the 2nd season of this in like a week lol) and then going for Angel Beats and maybe Re:Creators. I'll add that one to my MAL though - send me a pm if you'd be interested in adding me - I love seeing what other people are watching to give me an idea of what's maybe good and what's not.
I'm more into the romantic-y kind of shows, if you couldn't tell by my selections. -

However, my opinion based on what I thought back then was that I loved it, and that not many shows had managed to make me cry this much (#emo16yearold). No, the plot isn't very strong, and today I'd really give it a bad mark, however back then I just loved being able to watch something wholesome like Clannad with cute Dango songs playing in the background lol, really just kinda depends on what you're after in animes.
Also, I see that you've already started on some popular animes, might I also add Sword Art Online to that list (given you like the romantic animes) and maybe to give Full Metal Alchemist (not really romantic but imo pretty good, also very popular) a try if you haven't yet :)Last edited by Missterial on 17:34:13 - 19/02/18 (6 years ago) -

I did love the Dango song though!
And I've heard a few people talk about Sword Art Online now, so I'll definitely be checking it out. I suppose I should look into Full Metal Alchemist, but I kind of remember it not seeming like something I'd really be into.... -

If anyone can tell me why I'll send a prize. -
