I never made it to the end of the Lotr books. I got to halfway through the third one and have up. Its just too dense with names of people and places that dont have any bearing on the plot.

I was 11 I think when the first Harry Potter books came out. I used to love them so much. They were the only books I ever bought in Spanish to help me study. I still have a fully annotated book somewhere in the house. I look forward to my son being an appropriate age for them so I can read them to him but I dont think Id read them for myself.

Well guys, the time has come.. (unless i've missed a previous post :

If you had to pick one or the other, which would it be and why?

I personally prefer Lord of the rings, just because the story is so deep, Tolkien created an actual universe, with several languages! There is just so much depth into middle earth as a whole and harry potter has nothing on this..

I personally think harry potter is very overrated..

    Lets hear it!

    Peace!
You were very right in the universe part because once I finished reading the series I was drawn into the universe and was left seeking more of it. I began my adventure to find more LOTR. Obviously, the first thing that stumbled onto was, of course, the movies. I loved every single one of them, even the Hobbit films too. But then I played Shadow Of Mordor and I am telling you it was lit. For me comparing all the LOTR content I am gonna have to go with the game. Recommend heavily check it out. And as for thread topic as an avid reader(watcher too) of both, I am gonna have to go with LOTR.

Disc World. Both answers to the question are just shit. One would have been solved in 10 minutrs by the eagles. The other is just crap. Even Two Flower had more magic... []

    Tree_Beard [2017199]

You know nothing, there isnt a cat in hells chance, the eagles would of got into Mordor, without being spotted by the eye of Sauron, thus meaning Sauron would of sent of army of nazgul to kill them, resulting in the one ring falling back into the hands of Sauron.

The only reason the eagles saved them, was because the ring had been destroyed and with this the Nazgul too.

    damn casuals ;)
The ring makes you invisable, jog on... []

I will never lie to you. What I say is how I feel...

Except for Sauron is Drawn to the power of the ring, therefore making him able to see him?

Plus the ring-wraiths can see Frodo why he is invisible, because they too, wear rings of power..

The eagles can fly fast and would be like a stealth bomber. Too easy to fly in, bomb the ring and get out again... []

I highly doubt, with 7 eagles, each probably only carrying 5-10 archers, could take out the whole of mordor..

That would of been lovely if they did

    but they couldnt.. :P

They don't need to. All they need to do is fly high, defend the bomber and go for it... []

Due to the thick fogs and the atmosphere of mordor, they wouldn't of been able to fly as high as you want them too :P

Id reccomend getting the audio books for LOTR, youre missing out massively by not reading them; the books shit all over the films. Jacksons version ruined LOTR, so much non-canon in the films.
