So while I thoroughly enjoyed watching a Star Wars movie, in the following days I realised and was made aware of some awkward points about the film. Here are some.
- Space bombs dropping with gravity ?
- although they were in relativley close proximity to that planet they evacuated...? - the dumb "on hold" joke
- the whole movie was like MAD MAX fury road where they just run for the duration of the film - on that note
- future spaceships and hyperdrives but still has fuel that runs out? -this has never been an issue before...
- Hyperspace tracking too cause yano
- Finns dumb mini adventure to keep him relevant
- his dumb girlfriend who dies saving him before the films out
- Leia and Holdos weird bromance
- holdo let half the fleet die before suiciding
- waited until someone explained on-screen that it was her plan all along to suicide
- porgs highly irrelevant except for pushing merch ?
- snoke dies and we learn nothing about him
- he dies super weaksauce
- kylo and ray still have the mind link when shes on the millenium falcon at the end - snoke lied about being responsible for that then ??
In the end, I kinda feel like it was a big lot of "sequels are usually worse" and im holding out of the conclusion to the story set up in this situation. It had all the adventure and mild peril of your average shrek movie. I kinda feel more like I watched the latest Shrek after the fact that I didn't and I actually watched the latest Star Wars.Last edited by Laughingman91 on 15:31:14 - 18/12/17 (6 years ago) -

Yeah there are some other issues,
But well it has shown X-Wings and other fighters being Fueled up, so even though there has never been any mention of fuel that does not mean it is not there.
The on hold joke was stupid and there were other stupid jokes that were not needed.
Running away is fine but the whole thing with having to go off to another planet in the middle of the getaway did not work. Plus it did not seem like the time would work, and that like they feel like they hyper drive is instant even though it takes time in there. You are not instantly at whatever location it takes time, time that they would not have. Then the Casino was too much looking like an Earth Casino, where there could have been more Star Warsy, and they needed someone singing,
Like always I can not stand that stupid Beach Ball, it is even the stupid things name Beach Ball 8.
Then those salt Speeders those did not seem to be actually functional. I mean in design. Would not the cockpit close with all the salt stirring up, and what was the point of them having a guide stick? Or whatever that was. Just so they could make lines in the salt what was the purpose of that? I thought they were going to make a salt storm like kick it all up so they would be harder to see. THem being rust buckets were fine, But the original design seems unfunctional for where they were.
Yeah what is with the whole Snoke thingy it does not make sense. How did he get to power, what was he, and he was supposed to be powerful with the force but he was not all that really. -

The giant featherless duck with nutsack titties ( ...the ****...) represents the Star Wars franchise; now sad, lame and flightless... and Rey represents Disney milking the **** out of it, and also taking whatever dignity it had left....
It's genius.''Last edited by PopadaPill on 16:17:25 - 18/12/17 (6 years ago) -

I've never been much of a Star Wars fanboy, so I'm not too bummed about missing this one. Besides, I went to see The Force Awakens in the theaters and literally slept through the entire movie, so I wouldn't know what's going on here.
God I'm getting old. -

The Sci Fi genre in general isnt a place to go if you want to see stuff which is plausible and believable. That is what makes it so good. But its not to everyones taste.
If you go into a sci fi film looking for things which dont make sense then you will find them FAST. They are films to be watched because you like the genre.
A engineer/scientist watching a sci fi film for the first time will usually see within the first minute that it is fanciful garbage.
That is the way ALL of these films are.
The sci fi films which are considered classics and are remembered dont have too many special effects/graphics they concentrate on the characters. Ie films like Aliens and the original Blade Runner.
Most sci fi films are B movies or worse. Even if it cost a fortune to make them .....Forum signatures make my eyes hurt so i have turned them off.

- Does anyone find it weird that in this movie he was supposed to be 30 years old, even though he comes across as an emotionally compromised teenager ? When Rey is 19 ? Like they have chemistry 'cause he comes across so immature, and she's so hardened by the school of life?
My main issue with the movie is how dumb vice admiral holdo was when waiting for the transports to be destroyed. Why did she wait so long to kamikaze snokes spaceship if she knew she was going to go down with the ship anyway??! -

Some things were done really well: kudos for the visual aesthetic of the last battle that managed to look different from the handful of locations that seem to keep cropping up in Star Wars like desert planet, jungle planet or space battle. The red salt under the snow seemed like a deliberate choice to not only make it different from the snow planet in Empire Strikes Back, but also to create a sort of martial cherry blossom imagery invoking the Eastern elements Lucas originally combined with space opera to create Star Wars. The Jedi always were space samurai, and they went out in the modern scifi CGI equivalent of a 16th century Japanese battlefield painting.
That said, I continue to hate every single thing this trilogy does with the characters of the original trilogy. -

Hence the starkiller base being a bigger death star.
Also, that kylo ren is the bad guy he is, because we are afraid of the emotionally unstable white longhair nofriends kid with a really powerful weapon and shitty peers and shitty worldview.
It made sense to have darth vader or the emperor being some sort of pseudo hitler parallel before, but now it's the kylos in real life who we are afraid of. -
