I hope they bring back Steve too, can't imagine why they would make him a huge part of season 1 then send him packing. They are prolly leaving him open for when the story hits a rut ... or... until Fiona is done screwing every guy on the show! *zips mouth*

Although the US version of shamless is a million times better than the US version of the Inbetweeners. That was terrible,
But the US shameless, I'm guessing you are from the US? Do you find the characters believable? The UK characters were totally representative of people you maght find in the poorer areas of inner cities. I'm not from the US but the characters didn;t seem so believable to me. As in representative. What would you say? -

Some of the hardships they face early on in the series are completely plausible for low income families here in the U.S.

The characters started as mostly believable, but as time goes on the characters start shifting personalities to fit whatever role they're needed for melodrama and that can be jarring. I think the worst victims were Kev and V, whose arcs play out a little like the writers just didn't know what to do with them because there's a major disconnect between their recent stories and the Gallaghers'. I'll give the original UK one a shot though if it's better. I heard it's also basically a soap opera but I still watch the US one so I guess I'm just into that haha. -
Posted on 11:03:23 - 23/06/16 (8 years ago)Post link copied to clipboard Copy post linkThe odd thing I found with the UK version is that it did nosedive in the way you described after a few seasons but eventually it got better again. Unless it just seemed that way because I took 2 or 3 seasons off from it and it just seemed better because I hadn't seen it for a while.
Although I have seen very little of the US version I seem to recall some storyline were identical. Nothing wrong with that except that is where my point about believability comes in.
Meaning that because they were issues relating to UK culture and values, which I recognised, I didn't feel they necessarily can be transferred to US culture and values.
Obviously my awareness of these things in the US is based almost entirely on TV and film. But as such I often didn't recognise the scenarios as something I associate with the US. -
