Is " The Wire " a good show ?

    The show itself is a bit old but I'd like to know if " The Wire " show is worth watching. In IMBD, it ranks 9.4 which is supposed to be awesome. But I got mixed critics from my friends. Some of them said it is very awesome and best show ever but other say that show is pretty boring.
    Can anyone clarify me please ?

    The Wire is the best police drama i have seen i am english and 41 and there is a lot of good tv from my country.
    The Wire is not only the best police drama i have seen it is one of the best TV series i have seen.
    When Rockstar games made GTA SanAndreas i can see clearly that they got a lot of inspiration from the first series of The Wire.
    If you havent seen The Wire you need to see it.
    Almost all american tv used to be absolutely awful, but it was around about the time of The Wire when things started improving i think a lot of american program producers saw The Wire and decided it was a good time to start making good tv!

    Forum signatures make my eyes hurt so i have turned them off.

    If you watch tv a lot and you havent seen The Wire you are missing out BIG TIME.
    The wire is the pinnacle ie the best you have to see The Wire.

    A lot of torn players wont have even heard of the wire because they are too young or they may not like police dramas.
    Anyone who likes watching tv should check out The Wire.
