Watching the trailer I'm really excited for it, I'm not a DC fanboy in the slightest (Marvel fanboy). But to me it has pit a whole new spin on the Batman characters that we can learn who they was before Batman.

Considering it stars Benjamin McKenzie who is one of my favorite actors from Southland I might watch this although since its a Fox show I won't be anticipating this series to be that good considerin Fox's horrible track record with TV series.

Honestly this show though is sort of grabbing at straws since they can't do a lot of stories for it unless they stick to using mainly the lesser known B grade villains like Calender Man or Victor Zsaz and only involve major villains in more of cameo roles showing their origins and who they become.

Now that the series is out, I have really enjoyed it a lot more than I expected possible. The fact that we see Gorden and not a major emphasis on Bruce Wayne is a major plus in my book.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised by it, I think they have captured the penguin perfectly and I like the way its focused aroung Jim Gorde. The only complaint I have with it is with the little Easter eggs. Easter eggs are supposed to be subtle but with this show they are leaping out at you. Other than that I think its great

Well a lot easter eggs are fairly obvious if you're a comic fan where as for the uninitiated they can seem subtle like the ones used on the CW series Flash and Arrow which hint at future enemies. Prime example of this in the pilot for the Flash they have a broken cage with a liscense plate saying "GRODD" hinting at Gorilla Grodd being on the loose after the accident that gave Flash his powers.

well the series was slated for 16 episodes but was extended to 22 and in the last episode its really starting to pick up. Gotham is a series that is somewhat slow to start because its like watching Law and Order with comic book characters thrown in. Each episode is half main story and half sub plot of a crime for Jim Gordan and his partner to solve. The sub plot helps develop Jim and his partner's relationship while the main story is slowly moving along.

The show has some slow pacing to it but somehow that makes it more enjoyable rather than just having all main story all the time.

Based solely on the adverts on Channel 5, it looks hilariously shit.
"WOAH, let's take a shitty childrens' comic and make it seem gritty and muddy and intense like the Dark Knight!"

You could try watching the show because its fairly good with some great actors

As for the "shitty childrens comic" comment I'm not sure if you're confused because there is no seperate comic that the series is based on since it uses characters from the Batman comics which the Christopher Nolan movies were based on.

Gotham City has always been a dark place. Except for the Batman show with Adam West from the 60's.

So far it seems to be working. Putting a comic booky feel to some of the crimes going around, but still being serious. Though I am not sure how long it will last or how it can carry into other seasons without getting too exhausted. Unless they do perhaps start skipping a few years ahead each season. Or having a season span the length of a couple years. Otherwise it seems like it will move to slow and then get canceled.

    I f**king love it! It's brilliant!
I hate Butch though, but oddly I love Penguin.
He's so sly, he plays the part exceptionally well!

If you can see this, you are viewing the forums badly.

Butch is a good character and ironically has only ever shown up in the 90's batman animated show which is considered to be the best batman animated show to date since it was kid friendly but also dark enough to where even adults can enjoy watching it with their kids.

The character Butch was well received that he has been used on occasions since then and I kind of like him since he is synical and a realist where as Gordon is an idealist and devoted.
